About the Studio
Founded by games industry veterans, Rushdown was created with a simple philosophy in mind: We believe that when talented developers are consistently challenged and given clear ownership of their work, extraordinary things will happen. As a co-dev game studio, we now focus on solving some of the most difficult problems that face multiplayer games — and we bring our experience working on games like PUBG, League of Legends, and Rocket League with us. We truly love the work we do and we want to funnel our passion and expertise into features and games that billions of players will enjoy worldwide.

About the Role
Rushdown Studios is looking for a Business Development Specialist to join our team and grow out partnerships! In this role, you'll build key customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and close business deals, all while maintaining an extensive knowledge of current market conditions.

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, organized, and creative individual who welcomes the challenges of acquiring and developing new business through sales efforts. Game development experience is preferred due to the nature of this project, but it’s not mandatory; we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all of the requirements listed below!

Work Location: Rushdown Studios is based in Saratoga Springs, NY and we have a strong preference for local candidates willing to work from our office on a hybrid basis (i.e., Tuesday-Thursday). However, we also support fully remote work for candidates living across New York State or one of the other states in which we're currently registered to conduct business (e.g., CA, CT, GA, KS, MA, MD, MI, NC, PA, TX, WI). We're open to expanding this list for the right candidate, as well.

Responsibilities

  • Questing: Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our capabilities and network with key industry friends.
  • Meta Maker: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with publishers, developers, and platform holders.
  • Charisma++: Craft compelling and customized outreach messages across email, LinkedIn, and industry networks. Schedule, coordinate, and participate in introductory calls and proposal meetings.
  • Gotta Catch ‘Em All: Find relevant game company data points, including those pertaining to team size, platform focus, funding, technology stack (e.g., Unreal, Unity, custom engines), and live games.
  • Min Max: Ensure all leads, activities, and conversations are documented and actionable.

Requirements

  • Willingness to embrace ambiguity and proactively solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with the game development lifecycle and studio structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and a detail-oriented, self-driven nature -- i.e., you can manage BILLIONS of leads without dropping the ball. (JK, but it's a lot.)

Why Join Rushdown?

  • Impact: You’ll play a key role in shaping the growth of a nimble, respected co-dev studio in the video game industry.
  • Growth: Work directly with studio leadership -- with opportunities to grow into senior roles as we expand our BD Team.
  • Culture: We love games. We love supporting each other. We love to embrace the chaos of making games. We love to have a positive impact.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $55,000-75,000/year plus Performance Bonus. Please note that final base pay will ultimately depend upon a combination of factors, including your prior experience, general qualifications, and broader skill set.
  • 9 Paid Holidays plus Flexible PTO and Annual Winter Break Closure
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Annual Video Game Budget
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Paid Parental Leave

At Rushdown Studios, we believe that we're made better by each of the different perspectives that our team members bring to the table. We said it above, and we'll say it again: We want to hear from you, even if you don't meet all of the requirements for a specific role.

We're also an equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of race; color; ancestry or national origin; religion; physical or mental disability; age; sex, including pregnancy; sexual orientation; gender, gender identity, or gender expression; medical condition; genetic information; or marital, military, or veteran status.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
