We are hiring immediately a Business Development Manager in our Aggreko Cooling Tower Services Sector.  Our ACTS BDM is a direct seller for complex projects and supports local sector sellers on transactional jobs. A good ACTS BDM is a skilled technical sales engineer with many skills. A successful candidate will have a strong thermal dynamics and hydraulics background, specializing in open piping systems.

The successful ACTS BDM will drive commercial and industrial sales of our advanced cooling tower solutions with a solid grasp of technical concepts and commercial acumen. They must also collaborate to create, develop, and sell innovative cooling solutions to meet our client’s needs.

Purpose:

Position holders are responsible for identifying, evaluating, and negotiating, new sales and marketing growth opportunities, and/or providing technical product expertise. Activities include:

  • Promoting Aggreko brand and identify, negotiate, and manage strategic relationships.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of thermal dynamics, hydraulics, and open piping systems.
  • Proficiently handle pumps, pumping systems, and electrical basics, including distribution gear, transformers, and generators.
  • Apply fan law principles related to tip speed, energy, pressure, airflow rates, and sound pressure.
  • Utilize industrial construction experience and basic knowledge of cooling tower construction for field-erected cooling towers.
  • Navigate the challenges associated with hazardous locations (Class 1 Division 2) specific to cooling tower applications.
  • Leverage application knowledge, water treatment, and environmental awareness (drift, blowdown, energy conservation, thermal discharge, etc.).
  • Ensure health and safety compliance with a focus on legionella prevention.
  • Identify and evaluate customer needs, develop customer relationships, and implement sales strategies to progress customer relationships.
  • Design and implement marketing plan and sales programs, which focus on external as well as internal “awareness” of targeted sectors or national accounts, promote new markets and improve competitive position.
  • Deliver base business opportunities to local business units.
  • Mentor and/or coach local sales representatives in approach and technique as needed.

We’re experts, which means you’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • 7-10 years of direct business to business sales experience
  • Advanced knowledge of thermal dynamics, hydraulics, and open piping systems
  • Strong background in technologies like Zoom Info, Salesforce, and other intelligent sales platforms.
  • Proven track record of attaining maximum sales results through successful interaction with established customers and new prospects.
  • Passion for excellent customer service and a strive to exceed sales targets.
  • Outstanding negotiating, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Partnership with other areas of the Aggreko business (Ops, Fleet, Logistics)
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in remote work settings, staying productive and communicative.
  • Embrace the readiness for extensive travel, often requiring nights away from home, especially in larger regions.
  • Showcasing loyalty, as the learning curve for this role is approximately 3 years and given the extended sales cycles, minimizing turnover is crucial.
