The Business Development Lead will manage the commercial lifecycle in payments, targeting stablecoin issuers and PSPs, and architect innovative payment solutions.
The summary above was generated by AI

Join Cubist as we build the programmable infrastructure that powers the next generation of stablecoins, online payments, and tokenized assets.

For payment processors and stablecoin issuers, slow UX is unacceptable and security breaches are fatal. CubeSigner solves this by keeping keys safe in secure hardware, while offering signing speeds that make instant settlement possible. Our Confidential Cloud Functions (C2F) allow issuers and PSPs to automate complex treasury workflows—like instant minting upon fiat receipt—while keeping compliance logic private and keys secure.

We are looking for a Business Development Lead (Payments) to own the full commercial lifecycle for our payments vertical. You will architect solutions for the highest-volume transactors in the industry.

You’ll report to the President and work directly with the builders of one of the most advanced digital asset platforms in the industry.

About the Role

This is a full-cycle role for a commercial operator who understands fintech rails. You will spearhead Cubist’s expansion into the payments sector, targeting PSPs, stablecoin issuers, tokenization platforms, on/off-ramps, and remittance firms.

You will act as a consultative partner to Heads of Product, Tech Leads, and Compliance Officers. You will show them how CubeSigner allows them to move from slow, manual operational wallets to fully automated, secure programmatic signing.

Key Responsibilities

Origination: Build and manage a pipeline of stablecoin issuers, PSPs, tokenization platforms, and other payment solutions. Identify targets where programmatic deposits, transfers, mints/burns and high-throughput settlement are critical bottlenecks.

Structuring & Closing:

  • Architect the Opportunity: Work with clients to map CubeSigner into their treasury flows and core technical infrastructure, replacing risky hot wallets or slow manual approval queues. Architect solutions using C2F to enforce regulatory compliance (e.g., travel rule checks, transfer limits, deny lists) programmatically at the moment of signing, without manual intervention.

  • Solution Selling: Demonstrate how our infrastructure creates a verifiable audit trail for every cent moved or token minted.

  • Close: Lead commercial negotiations, structuring agreements that scale with the client's growth.

Relationship Ownership: You will own the account post-signature, helping clients expand to new chains and optimize their gas/treasury management using our tools.

About You

You speak the language of settlement. You understand that in payments, uptime is everything and liquidity efficiency is the goal.

  • Experience: 7+ years in business development within payments, fintech, or crypto treasury management.

  • Full Cycle Mindset: You are comfortable selling mission-critical infrastructure to operationally complex businesses.

  • Technical Fluency: You understand API-driven money movement, wallet infrastructure, and the mechanics of on-chain settlement.

  • Closer Mentality: You are driven by revenue and results.

About Cubist

Cubist is a self-custody operating system for programmable money, tokenized assets, and onchain finance across public and private blockchains. We empower global institutions like banks, payment processors, trading firms, and crypto protocols to safely automate digital asset operations using their own sensitive data and business logic. This is possible because of Cubist’s:

  • Security: Keys are safeguarded using FIPS-140 certified HSMs and TEEs.

  • Speed and Scale: CubeSigner signs transactions 200+x faster than MPC-based solutions, with horizontal scaling to millions of TPS.

  • Programmable Policy Engine: Customers define exactly when each key can sign (e.g., “only mint if collateral > X”, “only transfer if internal KYC has passed,” etc.).

  • Confidential Cloud Functions (C2F): With C2F, customers run “private smart contracts”: complex logic—such as compliance checks—that executes inside secure hardware and produces cryptographic proof of exactly what ran.

About the Cubist Team

Cubist’s founders include a former fintech COO, and cryptography and security professors from UC San Diego and Carnegie Mellon University who collectively have published more than 90 papers on computer security. Members of our team designed the cryptography underlying Ethereum and Avalanche and we’re backed by top-tier investors including Polychain, dao5, and Paxos.

Compensation & Perks
  • Competitive base salary, performance-based commission, and equity package

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits

  • Company-sponsored 401(k)

  • Home-office stipend

  • Company retreats and offsites

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
