We are seeking a Business Development Intern to support the MBA Business Development team. MBA provides best-in-class PR services for Innovative Consumer Technology and Lifestyle brands. This role is focused on identifying new brands, developing robust contact lists, organizing them within our CRM and supporting the Business Development team to ensure they have everything needed to effectively engage and sell to these prospects. This role is for you if you love learning about innovative new products, are extremely detail oriented/organized, and are exceptional at in-depth research and analysis.

Core Responsibilities

Prospect Identification

  • Understand what makes a good client for MBA - Consumer Technology brands with highly differentiated technology, ample funding/budget, and a strong marketing team.
  • Highlight recent coverage, key products, marketing initiatives, etc. - from sources including tech blogs, lifestyle media, Crunchbase, LinkedIn, trade show lists, and other new methods we haven't thought of yet!
  • Develop comprehensive background for each prospective brand including key stakeholders, agencies they've worked with, product/services, funding history, brand messaging, etc.

List Building

  • Build target lists for new prospective brands sourcing from internal agency recommendations, personal research, trade show lists, etc.
  • Detail the key stakeholders and decision makers for PR services within the organization
  • Source comprehensive contact information including phone number, email, LinkedIn, and mailing address
  • Develop list of events, tradeshows, networking opportunities where our Business Development executives can meet with prospects face to face or virtually

CRM Management and Prospect Engagement

  • Organize and update all relevant new and existing prospect lists into Highrise, MBA's CRM
  • Ensure prospects are categorized effectively and reminders are set to follow-up

Additional Support

  • Source existing agency assets and assist in the creation of new ones to help support the BD team in building presentation decks, sales material, etc.
  • Aid in internal communication to the larger agency on behalf of the BD team.
  • Conduct preliminary outreach to select brands (defined by BD team)
  • Aid the BD team in the coordination/scheduling of calls

Requirements
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google programs (drive, sheets, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Team attitude and ability to work with employees of all levels within and outside the company
  • Understanding/interest in startups, consumer tech, PR/Marketing
  • Resourceful / demonstrate the ability to execute tasks with simple direction
  • Desire to grow into a sales-oriented position
  • Go-Getter entrepreneurial attitude
