As the Business Development Director, you will play a critical role in driving Crunchyroll's growth by expanding our footprint across a Global market through distribution and platform partnerships. You will focus on identifying, pitching, negotiating, and launching strategic SVOD partnerships across telco, OTT, OEM, and hardware sectors.
You will cultivate relationships with industry players, negotiate complex agreements, and help bring Crunchyroll to new audiences across the region. Working with teams across Legal, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content, you will help shape the partner experience from concept to launch.
You will also stay on top of new trends, technologies, and business models to ensure Crunchyroll remains at the forefront of global distribution improvement.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute Crunchyroll's distribution strategy to expand our presence across digital, OTT, telco, mobile, hardware, and OEM platforms—maximizing audience reach and revenue.
- Source, structure, negotiate, and close distribution agreements, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Legal, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Content.
- Lead early-stage partnership development—building business cases, defining value exchange, scoping product requirements, and supporting financial modeling.
- Present Crunchyroll's value proposition to prospective partners across international markets and platforms.
- Partner with internal teams to align on integration timelines, prioritize engineering resources, and ensure smooth execution of partner launches.
- Build and maintain relationships with distribution partners—leading regular check-ins, performance tracking, and post-launch updates.
- Stay on top of industry trends, latest business models, and competitive dynamics to inform partnership strategy and innovation.
- Collaborate with global and regional distribution teams to share best practices, align initiatives, and support international growth.
- Occasional travel within the region may be required.
In the role of Business Development Director, you will report to the Senior Director, Global Distribution & Partnerships.

About You- You have 12+ years of experience in business development or strategic partnerships within the media, streaming, or technology sectors.
- You have experience in the streaming/SVOD/distribution landscape, with hands-on experience negotiating complex deals— preferably with OTT, telco, or device partners.
- You have first-rate analytical and financial modeling abilities, and are data-driven—able to evaluate partner performance and use insights to drive decisions.
- You excel at managing cross-functional initiatives, defining product requirements, and driving execution across multiple teams and time zones.
- You are a curious, proactive, and adaptable problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and can drive projects from discovery through delivery.
- You have a passion for anime, Japanese pop culture, and/or like fandom.
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
