This position may be filled in our Kansas City, MO, Milwaukee, WI, St. Louis, MO, or Washington D.C. office. This position will work onsite 3 days per week. 

The Business Development Coordinator will work closely with Business Development Manager, Business Development Specialist, colleagues in the Business Development, Marketing, and Communications (BDMC) department, and Technology, Manufacturing, & Transportation (TMT) SBU leadership to drive marketing and business development projects and initiatives for the TMT SBU. Essential functions include:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of assigned group’s attorneys, client base, experience, and market capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with BDMC colleagues—and partner with other departments as needed—to support and advance cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Proofread external-facing materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, compliance with brand guidelines, and professionalism, while verifying that the firm’s experience, accolades, and other relevant information are current and correctly represented.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications team to help raise team and attorney internal visibility through promotion of successes, speaking engagements, conference attendance, and other relevant activity. 
  • Gain proficiency with the firm’s mailing list systems and help create targeted invitation lists to ensure outreach efforts for events, webinars, and initiatives reach appropriate audiences.
  • Coordinate attorneys’ involvement in professional, trade, and industry organizations, as well as sponsorships and industry events.
  • Assist in organizing and executing speaking engagements, advertisements, and other promotional activities, working closely with BDMC teams to maximize visibility and impact.
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and maintenance of data in business development databases (e.g., RFP/pitch database, representative matters, case studies, TMT SBU budget requests, and ROI).
  • Provide general support for business development and marketing projects for the TMT SBU.
  • Respond to business intelligence research requests and collaborate with the firm’s research team to gather relevant reports in a format that is useful and helpful for the requestor.
  • Assemble first drafts of marketing and client-facing materials—including pitches, presentations, attorney biographies, and informational sheets—to support new business opportunities and showcase capabilities.
  • Coordinate with relevant BDMC teams to develop deliverables and other support to attorneys related to speaking engagements, sponsorships, advertisements, public relations, social media, and other activities, aiming to maximize visibility and impact.
  • Assist with planning and executing TMT SBU events and webinars.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the TMT SBU and firm-wide business development efforts.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years prior work experience, preferably in business, marketing, communications, or a related field, or at a law firm.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to assemble and proofread pitches, proposals, collateral, research reports, and client-facing presentation materials.
  • Ability to respond promptly and professionally to requests and proactively communicate challenges or delays.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet research tools. Knowledge of InterAction and Foundation a plus.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with firm attorneys and colleagues; professional appearance required.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
  • High attention to detail.
  • High level of professional integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • Washington, D.C.: $59,000 - $86,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
