The Job/What You'll Do:

As a Business Development Consultant at AssetMark, the leading provider of investment solutions for independent financial planners, you'll be part of a high-performing team that is responsible for fostering and managing business partnerships with new advisors joining the platform. In this high-profile role, you'll determine the opportunities that will provide the largest territory growth. Your contributions will be recognized and rewarded as you help expand our network of advisors. This is an ideal opportunity for a sales professional who excels in turning first impressions and new presentations into long-term relationships.

The total compensation for this role includes base plus a competitive sales incentive plan target as detailed below.

 

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $60,000-$70,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location.

 

Additionally, this position is eligible for an annualized Sales Incentive Plan target of up to $70,000.  The achievement of the Sales Incentive Plan target will be based on performance to clearly stated goals and metrics.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our office locations in Chicago, IL, Phoenix, AZ, Concord, CA, or Encino, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the acquisition of new advisor relationships by engaging prospective advisors in your set territory
  • Identify individual objectives, circumstances, and needs of the advisor’s business, and their client base, and work with the advisor to evaluate potential solutions
  • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge to consult with advisors on product details, performance, holdings, positioning, and investment allocations
  • Educate, advise, and consult prospective advisors on our wealth management platform, investment practice management, and client relationship offerings
  • Educate, influence, and persuade advisors on the key benefits of various platform offerings and assist advisors in the evaluation of platform offerings considering their business needs
  • Proactive and continuous outreach to prospective clients through cold calling utilizing focused lead lists (Salesforce, Discovery Database, Advisors-in-motion reports, marketing campaign leads, etc.) while maintaining a sales pipeline
  • Effectively present AssetMark’s value proposition at advisor-attended events
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time within the territory or other field meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to foster a cohesive and supportive team environment
  • Ability to switch focuses and prioritize competing objectives as needed
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Experience evaluating managed money platforms
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or finance field
  • 4+ years of experience in the financial services industry
  • 4+ years of phone and in-person sales experience
  • Experience utilizing Salesforce or similar CRM tools to effectively manage territory and pipeline
  • Active FINRA licenses: Series 6, 63, and 65 and/or Series 7 and 66 required
