Section 1: Position Summary

The Business Development Consultant (BDC) is responsible for building, managing, and expanding strategic relationships with financial professionals—including advisors, consultants, plan sponsors, and institutional partners—within an assigned territory.

Working in close partnership with an external Regional Vice President (RVP), this role supports and advances sales efforts by driving day-to-day territory execution, deepening partner engagement, and identifying opportunities to grow business with both new and existing relationships.

The BDC serves as a trusted consultant to partners, applying industry expertise and ongoing learning to deliver tailored, client-specific solutions leveraging FuturePlan’s full suite of products and services. This role is critical to enhancing the overall sales experience, strengthening partner loyalty, and positioning FuturePlan as a preferred provider in the retirement services marketplace.

Section 2: Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management & Territory Execution

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with advisors, consultants, plan sponsors, and institutional partners.
  • Partner with the RVP to execute territory strategy and drive new and existing business growth.

Sales Support, Opportunity Creation & Operations

  • Proactively uncover new business opportunities, actively sell FuturePlan solutions, and advance prospects through the pipeline.
  • Manage day-to-day sales activity, including pipeline tracking, CRM updates, follow-up, and new business submission.
  • Support proposal development, documentation, and full sales lifecycle execution.

Consultative Solutions

  • Provide expert guidance on plan design and retirement solutions.
  • Deliver customized, client-specific recommendations leveraging FuturePlan’s capabilities.

Engagement & Market Development

  • Conduct presentations and support industry events to drive engagement and brand presence.
  • Educate partners to enhance their ability to win and retain business.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor territory performance and align activity to sales goals.
  • Maintain industry and product knowledge through ongoing learning.

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Uphold data security standards and demonstrate company values in all interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The national average salary range for this role is $65-$75k in base pay, exclusive of any bonuses and benefits. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salary offered will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, performance, and internal pay alignment.
