What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Business Analyst to support data-driven decision-making and deliver strategic insights across the organization. This role includes owning and maintaining rolling forecasts that drive revenue projections and business planning, with high visibility across the CFO organization and other senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will have experience in analytics, business intelligence, or strategy roles within direct-to-consumer (D2C) or tech-enabled companies, or consulting. We’re looking for someone with a strong passion for turning data into compelling narratives and a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes through cross-functional collaboration.

What will you do?
  • Own and Evolve Forecasting Models: Take full ownership of our dynamic financial forecasting model — providing weekly updates, driving continuous improvements, and leading in-depth analysis to surface actionable insights.
  • Enhance Forecast Accuracy: Work closely with Data Science to integrate new metrics and refine underlying models, making our forecasts smarter and more responsive.
  • Enable Data-Driven Decision Making: Support financial reporting needs by building and maintaining dashboards in Looker, enabling faster and better decision-making across teams.
  • Monitor Strategic Metrics: Partner on insurance-related metric tracking and dive deep into performance trends that shape our strategic direction.
  • Business Strategy Partnership: Collaborate with senior leadership and business decision makers to support the company’s strategic roadmap, quantifying and accelerating impact on growth, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a strategic thought partner to business stakeholders by transforming complex data into clear, compelling recommendations that drive high-impact decisions.
What will you NOT do?
  • You will NOT worry about "runway", "cash left", or "how much time we have until the next round". We have the startup DNA but we're fully backed and funded, all the way to success.
  • You will NOT be confined to your "job". You will get involved in product, marketing, business strategy, and almost everything we do.
  • You will NOT be bogged down by office politics, ego, or bad attitude. Only positive, pleasure-to-work-with people are allowed here!
  • You will NOT get yourself burned out. We work hard but we believe in maintaining a sustainable work/life balance. Really.
Can I work remotely?

Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our San Jose, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, business intelligence, or insights roles, preferably within D2C or fast-paced, high-growth tech environments or in consulting.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Technical skills: Expert SQL skills, preferably proficient in at least one additional language (e.g., Python, R) and with one or more BI tool (e.g., Looker, Tableau); advanced Excel or Google Sheets capabilities; strong presentation skills in PowerPoint or Google Slides
  • Big Data Fluency: Comfortable working with large, complex datasets and leveraging big data technologies or platforms to derive insights at scale.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to link analytics to business outcomes, influence company performance, and support strategic decisions with data.
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for senior and cross-functional audiences.
  • Bias for Action: Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Strong prioritization skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and execution.
Benefits
  • Remote work with regular in-person bonding experiences sponsored by the company
  • Competitive compensation
  • Holistic perks program (including free therapy, employee wellness, and more)
  • Excellent health, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401k benefits with employer matching contribution
  • The chance to build something that changes lives – and that people love
  • Any piece of hardware or software that will make you happy and productive
  • An awesome community of co-workers

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
