Job Responsibilities and Requirements

The Business Analyst will focus on achieving optimal performance of service capabilities, including support of existing systems functionality and new development initiatives to expand on opportunities.  They are responsible for working with agile teams and the Product Owners to define and document acceptance criteria.  The Business Analyst will ensure the solutions delivered are of high quality by collaborating with their agile team members and by utilizing appropriate documentation practices for the team.  They are an active team member who participates in the estimation of work required to deliver features that meet the need of strategic initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that key information needed to support Product Owner prioritization is current, accurate, and available in a usable format to drive high quality decisions.

  • Guides key stakeholders in development of Business Requirements and partners with development teams to understand functional specifications.

  • Ensures user stories are accurate and comprehensive relative to business requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Works with development teams to connect user stories to functional specifications and anticipates/remediates discrepancies.

  • Ensures integrity of user stories as they are broken down and refined throughout hierarchy of work items in the product backlog.

  • Identifies where intent may be lost or overlooked during the work breakdown and refinement processes through descoping or supplementary requirement elicitation.

  • Ensures functional and non-functional requirements with appropriate documentation are represented effectively in the product backlogs.

  • Collaborates with the key stakeholders to ensure that the deliverable is properly defined and produces features and solutions that meet or exceed Product Owner expectations.

  • Leads the creation of user acceptance testing plans and coordinates execution efforts by defining requirements for test bed data.

  • Assists the agile team with internal test execution, inclusive of documenting results, managing and tracking defects, and trouble-shooting issues that arise out of testing.

  • Produces comprehensive documentation of business logic and related technical functionality as a reference guide for users.

  • Assists in production support process through triage and root cause analysis and proposes efficient solutions to issues open for remediation.

  • Evaluates native functionality from third party partners and identifies opportunities to meet business needs.

  • Possesses a detailed knowledge of business processes and has suggestions or ideas for improvement.
     

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or other relevant three (3) years’ work experience is required

  • Has 2+ years’ experience working as part of an agile team

  • Prior experience working with clients and producers preferred; insurance product knowledge is preferred along with proven ability to demonstrate planning and project management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.

  • Knowledge of Agile Development Methodologies.

  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps required.

  • Self-motivated and results oriented

  • Excellent written, and verbal and interpersonal communication skills required.

  • Have the ability to work independently and collaborate with internal business partners.

  • Takes an innovative approach to problem solving

  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.


 

The expected hiring range for this position is $64,720.00 - $93,300.00 annually. This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
