Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Business Analyst, Finance & Billing serves as a critical bridge between Finance and Technology, translating business strategy into system-enabled solutions that improve financial operations, billing accuracy, and reporting. This role partners closely with Finance, IT, and cross-functional leaders to define requirements, optimize processes, and ensure technology platforms effectively support Brightspeed’s financial and customer lifecycle operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Finance leaders to understand business objectives and translate them into clear, measurable business and functional requirements.
- Lead the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, including stakeholder interviews, workshops, documentation, and validation across Finance, Billing, and Revenue functions.
- Develop and maintain business requirements documents, process flows, and functional specifications to support IT design and development.
- Ensure alignment between Finance business needs and enterprise platforms, including SAP S/4HANA, BRIM, ARIBA, RAR, billing systems, and analytics platforms.
- Identify process gaps and recommend automation, system enhancements, and workflow improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and control.
- Partner with Product Owners and Platform teams to translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs in Jira or similar tools.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, testing cycles, and release readiness to ensure solutions are delivered on time and meet business expectations.
- Support development and testing teams by clarifying requirements, validating solutions, and assisting with defect triage and resolution.
- Serve as the primary Finance liaison for technology initiatives, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely decision-making.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to Finance and IT stakeholders through governance forums and project updates.
- Develop test scenarios and lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate solutions before deployment.
- Validate post-deployment results, ensuring adoption, performance, and business outcomes meet expectations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 5–10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role in a technology-enabled business environment.
- 5–10 years of experience supporting financial systems, billing platforms, or enterprise technology implementations.
- Experience leading business requirements, functional specifications, testing cycles, and release readiness across multiple systems.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into system-based solutions.
- Advanced stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to work across Finance, IT, and business leadership.
- Proficiency with Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Zephyr, QTest, Smartsheet, or similar project and testing platforms.
- Strong documentation, organization, and process design capabilities.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and challenge existing processes constructively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, BRIM, RAR, ARIBA, billing platforms, and revenue or cash applications.
- Experience with data analytics, reporting, and customer lifecycle systems (e.g., Looker, Power BI, SQL).
- Experience in telecommunications, subscription-based, or high-volume billing environments.
- PMP, ScrumMaster, or similar project management or Agile certification.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based or remote work environment with prolonged use of a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to attend meetings (virtual and in-person) and work across multiple time zones as needed.
- Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
