About Firecrawl

Firecrawl is the easiest way to extract data from the web. Developers use us to reliably convert URLs into LLM-ready markdown or structured data with a single API call. In just a year, we’ve hit millions in ARR and 50k+ GitHub stars by building the fastest way for developers to get LLM-ready data.

Previously, we built Mendable, one of the first commercially available “chat with your data” applications. We sold to companies like MongoDB, Coinbase, Snapchat, and more. To do this, we spent a surprising amount of time building reliable infrastructure for getting clean data from the web. When we started to see our founding friends rebuilding the same thing, we thought we might be on to something.

Why Firecrawl
  • Technical ownership – Lead critical browser technology and infrastructure

  • Real impact – Directly shape how our browser stack drives our entire product

  • High velocity – Rapid iteration and deployment of your work

  • Small team, big ambition – Collaborate closely with founders, influencing key decisions and future directions

About the Role

In just a year, we’ve hit millions in ARR and 50k+ GitHub stars by building the fastest way for developers to get LLM-ready data. We’re a small, fast-moving team building essential tools for the AI era. We value autonomy, clarity, and shipping fast.

We’re looking for a Senior Browser Engineer who can build and optimize advanced browser automation and fingerprinting solutions. You'll own our core browser infrastructure, ensuring reliable and stealthy web interactions through proxies, headless browsers, and sophisticated fingerprinting techniques. If you're passionate about browser engineering and delivering robust, high-performance solutions, you'll thrive here.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and optimize browser automation using full/headless browsers (Chrome CDP, Playwright)

  • Implement sophisticated browser fingerprinting and anti-detection techniques

  • Manage and scale proxy integrations for high-volume web scraping

  • Collaborate directly with founders to design, build, and maintain browser-based solutions

  • Lead R&D and proof-of-concept work for innovative browser automation methods

  • Ensure performance, stability, and stealthiness across our browser infrastructure

  • Debug complex issues related to browser compatibility and scraping reliability

Who You Are
  • Deeply experienced with browser automation frameworks

  • Expert in fingerprinting, detection evasion, and stealth automation

  • Proficient in managing and optimizing proxy networks

  • Skilled in troubleshooting browser-related performance and reliability issues

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and independently driving projects from idea to deployment

Bonus Points
  • Experience with Chrome CDP or forked Chromium to implement a feature

  • Experience building anti-detection technology at scale

  • Familiarity with web scraping, data extraction, and large-scale crawling operations

  • Contributions to open-source browser automation or fingerprinting projects

  • Previous experience at a scraping, automation, or security-focused startup

  • Ex-founder

What it Means to Join Firecrawl
  • High Leverage — Your processes directly amplify our growth.

  • Autonomy — Own your domain; we care about outcomes, not hours.

  • Remote-First Culture — Work at our new SF office, while collaborating with our remote team.

  • Growth Opportunity — Early equity and a role that scales with the company.

  • Creative Freedom — Experiment with new channels, formats, and automations. If it works, we run with it.

Benefits & Perks
  • Salary that makes sense — $150,000–$250,000 (U.S.-based), based on impact, not tenure

  • Own a piece — Up to 0.30% equity in what you’re helping build

  • Full coverage, no red tape (SF Only) — Medical, dental, and vision plans that cover stuff

  • Parental leave — 12 weeks fully paid, for moms and dads

  • Take a break (seriously) — Unlimited PTO, minimum of 3 weeks off

  • Gear up — Get the tools you need to do your best work, no approvals circus

  • Wellness stipend — Use it for the gym, therapy, or whatever keeps you human

  • SF HQ perks — Snacks, drinks, lunches, and the occasional chaotic energy

  • Pet insurance (SF Only) — Because fur babies are family too

  • Team offsites — A change of scenery, minus the trust falls

  • Sabbatical — 3 paid months off after 4 years, do something fun and new

Interview Process
  1. Application Review – Send us your stuff, and a quick note on why you're excited

  2. Interview (~30 min) with Alex, our AI Interviewer

  3. Intro Chat (~25 min) – Quick alignment call with a member of our team

  4. Technical Interview (~1 hr) – Tackle a small challenge

  5. Interview with Founders (~30 min) – Culture, vision, and long-term fit

  6. Paid Work Trial (1–2 weeks) – Work on something real with us

  7. Decision – We move fast

If you’ve ever wanted to own a product-critical system and build alongside founders, this is your moment. Apply now and let’s talk.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
