BRAND STRATEGY DIRECTOR

AGENCY OVERVIEW

Powered by intuition, connection and vision, Crown + Conquer has established itself as an industry leader by working with some of the biggest and most innovative brands in the world. C+C lives at the cross section of where operations, brand partnerships and events naturally meet. We challenge those brands to be an interaction with culture by ultimately creating MOMENTS OF TRUTH that comes to life across a unique alchemy of experiences, campaigns and partnerships. With our team's diverse perspectives and individual authenticity, we create the perfect blend of minds, people, energy and environment to communicate and celebrate TRUTH

WHO YOU ARE

Reporting into the General Manager of Crown + Conquer, the Brand Strategy Director is a senior leader who owns brand strategy, social strategy, storytelling, campaign performance and account management for Crown + Conquer, and leads these as a billable capability across client engagements. This leader also owns the narrative for the agency and its clients, builds the measurement infrastructure that ties the work to outcomes, and serves as the senior brand and strategic voice in client relationships. This role sits at the bridge of the agency. You're the partner to the Creative Director, the senior voice for clients in the room, and the manager of a team that spans account, strategy, and media. The ideal candidate for this role uses consumer insights and analytics to drive decisions, and builds go-to-market strategies that grow accounts while protecting what makes Crown + Conquer’s work distinctive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

CLIENT LEADERSHIP

- Serve as the senior Brand Strategist on Crown & Conquer client engagements, owning the strategic POV, directing the work, and ensuring quality and consistency before anything reaches the client.

- Own the health, growth, and retention of all accounts

- Identify opportunities to scale revenue from existing clients through new scopes, expanded partnerships, and deeper service offerings

- Partner with the GM on commercial planning, scope discipline, and forecasting

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT

- Brief the Creative Director on all work involving brand or creative strategy; hold the strategic half of the work while the CD holds the creative.

- Lead brand strategy for portfolio properties (Let It Break and Everybody’s Crazy) as well as client engagements, authoring value propositions, brand promises, and messaging pillars.

- Lead the rebuild of the firm’s capability decks, pitch materials, and case studies; help tell the story of what Signed and C+C are building.

- Address the copy and storytelling gap across the portfolio, and be willing to write copy directly and coach direct reports to do the same at a high standard.

INSIGHT-DRIVEN DIRECTION

- Champion the use of data, consumer insights, and cultural intelligence to shape strategy — not just validate it.

- Develop frameworks that connect what audiences think, feel, and do to what brands should say and where they should show up.

- Bring insights-led thinking into both client strategy and agency POV, helping Crown & Conquer stay ahead of the market.

CAMPAIGN LEADERSHIP AND NEW BUSINESS

- Help position Crown & Conquer as a thought leader in the creator and talent partnership space.

- Maintain a genuine pulse on where creator culture, brand storytelling, and audience behavior are heading — and articulate it clearly to clients and leadership.

- Stand up the measurement layer: weekly performance dashboard, monthly executive read-out, and quarterly strategy review; define KPIs per property and own the analytics narrative in client pitches.

- Partner with executive leadership on pitches and proposals, serving as the strategic voice in the room for high-priority prospect conversations.

WHAT YOU BRING

- 12–15 years of experience spanning brand strategy (agency, holding company, or strong in-house team) and operational social leadership at scale.

- Demonstrable brand strategy work: has authored brand platforms, messaging architectures, and voice guidelines that shipped and held up over time

- Strong writing and copywriting ability; can define brand voice and coach a team to execute against it.

- Has run social programs across multiple brands or properties simultaneously; comfortable with paid, organic, and creator-led approaches as one integrated mix.

- Prior agency-side experience selling brand strategy or social as a billable capability is strongly preferred.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Competitive base compensation

- Performance-based bonus structure

- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision

- 401(k) with company match

- Paid time off and company holidays

- Professional development support

Crown + Conquer is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the cultures and communities we serve.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
