The role is responsible for providing support to attorneys with various brand-related legal tasks. Assigned support areas may include brand, trademark, federal programs, litigation, legal operations, health care/regulatory law. This position will provide support for the clearance of potential trademarks and assist with all facets of the prosecution and enforcement of the Association's international and domestic trademark portfolios. The job includes researching trademark laws and regulations, responding to client inquiries, and maintaining records.

Assist Brand Counsel with enforcing the proprietary rights owned by the Association by investigating, negotiating and resolving trademark and domain name disputes with third parties. Assist Brand Counsel with conducting, reviewing, analyzing and advising on domestic trademark and derivative clearance searches on behalf of BCBSA and its affiliates. Preparing and prosecuting trademark applications and supporting documents in the U.S., corresponding with the Patent and Trademark Office and foreign associates, and managing outside counsel on worldwide prosecution matters, deadlines and instructing on new applications, renewals and oppositions. Assist Brand Counsel team with other non-trademark related projects Maintain docketing and deadlines

Qualifications:
Education
  • Required BS or equivalent work experience
Experience
  • Required 4+ Years experience as a trademark, corporate or litigation paralegal

  • Proficiency with CPI and WebTMS trademark docket databases preferred but not required
