The Lucky Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation who was founded to honor the fallen, empower communities, and preserve the legacy of service, is seeking volunteer leaders to join its dynamic Advisory Board Committee.
Honoring our fallen heroes, both those who have served and those who protect our local communities, is a vital act of remembrance and gratitude. It is our duty to recognize their sacrifices, not only at a national level but also within our local communities and at a personal level.

Job Summary
The Lucky Foundation is seeking a financial expert to join our Board of Directors as a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer will be part of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, a position which comes with more responsibilities than joining as a member. The Chief Financial Officer position will bring a financial lens to strategic planning and decision making.
Responsibilities

DUTIES:
• Developing and maintaining ties with commercial bankers to support funding solutions
• Investigating and assessing financial opportunities, as well as making suggestions to the board of directors - A competent treasurer ought to be able to interpret financial ideas and facts for board members who do not have accounting experience. The treasurer should devote time to an understanding of the organization's finances and the relevant legislation, which may include rules governing earned income, unrelated business income tax, reasonable spending, and smart investments.
• Budgeting - The treasurer may oversee preparation or assisting in the creation of a yearly budget. They also regularly review and compare actual income and spending against expenditures.
• Creating debt repayment plans with lenders
• Ensuring that lender commitments are followed
• Managing a nonprofit's assets
• Keeping track of your financial flow - Reconcile bank accounts and prepare financial information for presentation to the board of directors
o Provide monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors or as needed
o Provide yearly financial report to the Board of Directors
• Informing donors, members, and board members about the organization's operating and financial strategies
• Recruiting qualified finance and accounting personnel
• Practice sound accounting practices and handle all money with high standards and set a tone of integrity
• File yearly United States taxes on behalf of The Lucky Foundation - An effective nonprofit treasurer is also in charge of completing (or assuring the completion of) mandatory financial reports (such as the IRS Form 990) on time and making them accessible for the board's consideration.
• Ensure The Lucky Foundation continues to meet 501c3 requirements
• Identify and manage risk
• Develop systems that ensure the solvency of The Lucky Foundation
• Oversees Fundraising Opportunities - A treasurer may be requested to develop financing bids for one-time grants, special mission grants, and sponsorships.
All other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Attend board meetings monthly
• Proficiency with Google and or Microsoft suite tools (google docs, google slides, google sheets, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, etc.)
• 2 years of work experience and a proven track record of success in a professional environment
• Act as an advocate and ambassador for The Lucky Foundation
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Previous Treasurer and/or money management experience
• Previous non-profit board experience
• Expertise in bookkeeping and using QuickBooks
• Experience with fundraising CRM and donor management software (Network for Good, Kindful, DonorPerfect, etc.)
• Management experience
