Job Description
The Senior Credit Analyst plays a critical role across the full credit lifecycle — from underwriting and structuring individual transactions to managing syndication and funding-partner relationships to advancing the analytical tools and processes that support Beacon's credit decisioning. This role combines the transaction-level judgment of a seasoned underwriter with the data and process orientation of a credit analytics specialist, and may include mentoring or providing working guidance to junior credit analysts as part of day-to-day deal flow..
Job Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and adjudicate a high volume of daily commercial credit submissions, including financial statement analysis, collateral evaluation, and business history review
- Recommend appropriate risk-based pricing and deal structure; direct, coordinate, and make recommendations for lease approvals
- Conduct background investigation including bank, finance company, and trade references, and confirmation of revenue sources
- Identify transactions to be funded via Beacon's portfolio or third-party funding partners, and manage a pipeline of “in credit” transactions in a timely manner
- Assist in the underwriting of portfolio acquisitions and/or portfolio sales
- Maintain working familiarity with Beacon's core industry assets and business borrowers
- Manage and grow relationships with Beacon's syndicate bank and funding partners
- Negotiate improved financing terms and conditions with syndication and funding partners
- Identify and establish new syndication bank programs and funding partnerships
- Assist in the development and ongoing enhancement of corporate credit scoring strategy and credit policy manual
- Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) to monitor key credit and portfolio performance indicators
- Independently research and recommend asset classes, credit tools, systems, and data sources to improve underwriting and support new business generation
- Analyze credit data and portfolio performance to identify underwriting trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into clearly defined, implementable strategies and rules
- Maintain credit standards and monitor industry regulations, requirements, trends, and competitor activity to ensure ongoing compliance
- Present credit analytics findings and recommendations to senior management, and work closely with executives on credit policy and credit decisions
- Effectively communicate with sales staff to facilitate deal flow, and assist in establishing payment terms and procedures with new vendor referral relationships
- Collaborate with data analysts and application developers to build, fix, and enhance credit underwriting technology and reporting platforms
- Foster effective teamwork across credit, sales, accounting, documentation, and collections
- Provide working guidance and mentorship to junior credit analysts as needed; contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment
- Participate in project management alongside cross-functional business partners on new initiatives, prioritization, and delivery
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field
- 5+ years of combined experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management, and/or credit analytics, ideally with a bank, finance company, or leasing company
- Business and/or four (4) year college degree is preferred
- Experience with small-ticket, construction, and/or commercial vehicle equipment finance is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of loans, leasing, credit analysis, underwriting, and deal structuring
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, trends, and opportunities from data, and translate analysis into actionable strategy
- Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau) and strong general computer skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior management
- Proactive self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude and sound organizational and time-management skills
