In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.
This role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. This is also a team leader role with people management responsibilities.
The Controls & Avionics Solutions business unit is seeking a Business Development Director to build out the value proposition and support customer engagements for greater product value across CAS product portfolio. This position will be based out of Endicott, NY. This position will help in further enhancing our win rate for the pipeline related to Controls and Avionics Solutions and work day to day with the Product line teams to enhance the value proposition of BAE Systems Inc solutions. This position will need to bring existing customer relationships, build new customer relationships, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with key decision makers across BAE Systems Electronic Systems Sector, as well as identify and qualify business opportunities, and position BAE Systems for bidding and winning. This position will also partner with the product lines to build out strong product roadmaps that drive portfolio advantage, competitive value sells and long term competitive advantage.
Specific Activities Include:

  • Build, mature and execute comprehensive solutions roadmaps that drive long term competitive advantage and enhance portfolio win rate
  • Create competitive value sells with customer operations in mind and engage with customer operations and leadership team both in offseason and during campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify customer objectives, priorities, and requirements that strategically position BAE Systems as an innovative industry leader.
  • Develop and maintain strong industry relations with large and small businesses with significant presence in the CAS product portfolio.
  • Team with Business Area leadership to provide counsel and recommendations for the bid/no bid gate reviews and collaborate with the Product Line Director & Capture Team Leads for smooth turnover to proposal development.
  • Conduct competitive analysis focused on differentiating CAS value propositions.
  • Develop effective win strategies which include identifying and qualifying new opportunities.
  • Create opportunities for M&A focused on enhancing product portfolio, solution competitiveness and adjacencies growth.
  • Work with the contracts and product line teams to create commercial currencies and structures that enhance our win rate and pipeline growth


Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 12+ years of experience working in Business Development, Sales, Marketing and Customer Relationships
  • Strong understanding of customer's market- Commercial, Rotorcraft, Electrification and Defense markets
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with experience presenting at executive level
  • Must be able to obtain a US Secret Clearance

  • Identifies, develops, and implements near-term and long-term business strategies relating to the development of new services, technologies, and follow-on products.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
