The Messaging Platforms team at Yahoo is responsible for developing and maintaining the platforms, services, and pipelines that ensure targeted and timely delivery of notifications to users. Our platform, Rivendell, handles billions of push notifications daily, while our data pipelines facilitate the large-scale delivery of newsletters. We utilize cutting-edge technologies to execute high-impact projects, enabling Yahoo to maintain its competitive edge globally.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Backend Engineer on the Messaging Platforms team, you will be instrumental in supporting our three core Java codebases. You will have the autonomy to tackle challenges independently while benefiting from the support of a collaborative team environment. Your active participation in code reviews and team meetings will be highly valued. We expect you to understand the long-term strategic goals of the team and ensure your code contributions are aligned with that vision.

Ideal Candidate3 to 5 years experience building Java APIs using Spring Boot (GQL or Rest)
Strong understanding of API and System Design principles, Object Oriented Programming, and Test Driven Development
Familiarity with Relational (MySql, RDS, CloudSQL) and Document Databases (DynamoDB)
Experience working in distributed systems: Kubernetes, Open Telemetry, and micro service architectures
Experience working in Cloud environments (GCP or AWS) and IAC (Terraform)
Comfortable working on a Linux CLI
Experience developing code using LLMs or willingness to learn
Working experience with Agile Development

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
