Description
Jump is the only end-to-end fan experience platform built for sports teams and venues, breaking the mold for what fans can expect at live events.
Our enterprise software enables sports teams and venues to unlock the massive opportunities that come from real relationships with their fans, rethinking the traditional model that hasn’t put the fan experience first.
Jump was founded in 2021 by Marc Lore, Alex Rodriguez, and Jordy Leiser and backed by top venture firms including Forerunner Ventures, Will Ventures, Mastry Ventures, Courtside Ventures, and more.
We are a remote first team that grounds our actions and decisions in our core values — begin with trust, play like the underdog, and do your thing. Living our values means that we always assume positive intent, show up with authenticity and empathy, and push the limit of what is possible.
We’re actively recruiting for smart, tenacious, adaptable, and most importantly kind people to join our team!
The Role
We’re ushering in a new era of ticketing and fan experience - and that transformation starts with strong, scalable backend systems. As a Backend Engineer on our Core Services team, you’ll play a key role in building and supporting the technical foundation that powers it all.
Core Services is responsible for critical systems like availability, reservations, payments, and others. These services support both our fan-facing B2C experiences and the B2B tools used by sports teams. Reliability, performance, and thoughtful design are essential to everything we do.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the design and development of backend systems that are scalable, secure, and reliable. You’ll collaborate closely with senior and staff engineers, product managers, and other teams to bring new features to life, support strategic initiatives, and help ensure our systems are built to last.
What you’ll do:
Contribute to the design and development of scalable backend services in TypeScript and Node.js
Build and maintain systems across serverless (Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB) and containerized (Fargate, Docker) environments
Collaborate with senior/staff engineers on architectural decisions and technical direction
Develop and improve features across our core systems, ensuring reliability and performance
Utilize AI tools into daily development workflows to improve productivity, documentation, and code quality
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions
Help evolve internal standards, patterns, and best practices alongside the team
What you’ll bring:
4+ years of software engineering experience
Experience building backend systems in production using TypeScript (or JavaScript) and Node.js
Familiarity with a range of AWS services — such as Lambda, Fargate, DynamoDB, SQS, and EventBridge
Understanding of serverless and/or containerized architectures, and an interest in learning tradeoffs between them
Practical experience applying AI solutions to streamline engineering workflows or automate routine tasks
Exposure to event-driven architecture or distributed systems
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Nice to have (but not required):
Experience contributing to technical design discussions or project planning
Familiarity with payments, orders, or other large-scale transactional systems
Attributes that will make you successful on our team
A strong desire to learn. You have strong experience and want to continue building your technical skills.
Tenacity. You enjoy working on challenges that others can’t or don’t want to tackle and you aren’t afraid of failing fast in order to find better solutions.
Passion. You love using your technical skills to build products that solve real problems. You hold yourself to a high standard and help to elevate others as well.
Empathy. You thrive in an environment where everyone can truly be themselves. You understand that our differing life experiences influence who we are and how we show up, and these diverse perspectives enrich both our team and our product.
Customer-centric mindset. You can understand the problem to be solved and who we are solving it for.
Innovation: Passion for exploring and implementing AI technologies to enhance automation, optimize workflows, and drive innovation
