Audiense is a next-generation analytics-to-action platform that helps organizations deeply understand and strategically activate their consumers. We’ve brought together the strengths of three category-leading brands — Buxton, Elevar, and Audiense — into one integrated, insight-driven solution trusted by global brands across retail, CPG, eCommerce, and media.

Now we're looking for a Back End Software Engineer to help design and build the systems that power our platform. If you’re passionate about solving complex problems, scaling SaaS applications, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with data, this is your opportunity to make a global impact.
Please note that this role is a 9-12 month contract position and is 1 day per week in the Dallas, Fort Worth office.

Why Join Us?

At Audiense, engineering is more than just code — it’s about creating tools that shape how businesses act on intelligence. As a Back End Engineer, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Own critical systems: Design and develop scalable services and microservices that support global SaaS products.
  • Innovate with modern tools: Work with C#/.NET, AWS, Docker, and cloud-native architecture while exploring event-driven and data-heavy systems.
  • Solve complex problems: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data teams to deliver elegant, high-performance solutions.
  • Grow your expertise: Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and architecture discussions that push the boundaries of best practices.
  • Have global impact: Your work will directly influence how brands across industries activate insights in real time.

What You’ll Do

  • Build robust and scalable back-end software in C#/.NET Framework, .NET Core, or ASP.NET.
  • Design services and system architecture that drive performance and reliability.
  • Write and maintain high-quality code with unit tests, automation, and peer reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn complex requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and ensure systems are secure, scalable, and efficient.
  • Explore advanced domains like geospatial data, big data processing, and event-driven architecture.
What We’re Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience with C#, .NET Framework, .NET Core, or ASP.NET.
  • Proven background in building SaaS web applications and microservices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization (Docker).
  • Proficiency in SQL (DML, DDL, query tuning; SQL Server preferred).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and version control.
  • Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for building efficient, elegant systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
  • Bonus: Experience with geospatial analysis, large-scale data processing, or event-driven platforms.
What Success Looks Like in the First 60–90 Days
  • Contribute to Core Systems: Deliver meaningful code contributions to active projects and demonstrate proficiency in our tech stack.
  • Build for Scale: Participate in architecture discussions and help design solutions for performance and scalability.
  • Improve Quality: Introduce or enhance automated testing and contribute to stronger code review standards.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner effectively with product, design, and data teams to deliver your first features into production.
  • Demonstrate Problem-Solving: Take ownership of a technical challenge, present solutions, and execute effectively.
  • Deliver Early Wins: Provide insights or improvements (e.g., performance optimization, debugging, automation) that add measurable value.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
