As a Cloud Operations Architect, you'll spearhead efficiency initiatives within our Cloud Operations team. You'll serve as a key escalation point, providing expert technical guidance and hands-on support to both customers and team members. Your role is crucial in ensuring our customer environments perform optimally.
This position is 100% remote that sits in either the United States or Mexico.
Responsibilities
Incident Management
- Act as a high-level escalation point for critical customer issues
- Review and analyze Problem Management tickets and Root Cause Analysis reports
- Participate in on-call rotation to address urgent customer needs
Customer Success
- Participate in the customer onboarding process
- Provide technical guidance for AWS infrastructure implementations
- Identify trends in monitoring tools and optimize alert thresholds with customers
Technical Operations
- Create and maintain Terraform modules for efficient infrastructure deployment
- Collaborate cross-departmentally on customer environment improvements
- Manage the code that handles Mission's backup, patching, and monitoring tools
- Review merge requests and provide Change Advisory Board approval
- Handle highly confidential customer information and environments
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Cloud Operations improvement projects, including Terraform module development
- Automate solutions for repetitive tasks
- Build and maintain a documentation library for internal tooling
- Identify improvement opportunities from customer alerts and implement action plans
Requirements
- 4+ years in cloud architecture and operations focused on AWS
- Strong background in System Administration (Linux and Windows)
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform and CloudFormation)
- Scripting skills (Python or Bash) with AWS SSM or Lambda experience
- Familiarity with AWS managed services (ECS, EKS, Elastic Beanstalk)
- Knowledge of APM tools (New Relic, DataDog, or Dynatrace)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- AWS Professional Certification (required within 90 days of hire)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience providing world-class support in a customer-facing role
