JOB TITLE: AWS & Azure Platform Engineer (Job Code:MK0319)
DETAILS:
Migrating and refactoring from local server environments to AWS based Cloud Architecture. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the AWS Platform with the goal of enabling other teams. Collaboration with compliance teams to ensure design meets requirements. Monitoring and performance tuning of cloud workloads. Implement cost management strategies by leveraging innovation and maximizing service value to business. Documenting of best practices and articulating process improvements. Developing automations and/or applications. Assist in the operational support of multiple global multi-tenant cloud-based applications. Keep vitally important IT systems up and running by overseeing day-to-day monitoring and response to alarms, fault and performance management activities. Proactively monitor systems, networks, and applications to provide input in improving the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of systems. Help establish and improve engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns with peers and the business. Closely collaborate with software development leads to understand workload requirements and guide them to the best leverage of cloud services, optimizing for performance, cost and architectural flexibility. Participate in incident reviews to create improved supportability documentation, diagnostics, tooling, error messages and automation. Implement monitoring and security controls across various platforms. Collaborate closely with the multiple technology and cross-functional groups within the organization. Proven experience to analyze and run audit forensics, trend analysis and cloud data reporting. Manage ticket assignments, documentation and escalations for thorough and timely outcomes. Stay informed of emerging cloud technologies and evaluate the value to the organization's operations. Adhere to Cloud Governance Standards that ensure cloud security, proper controls, and end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring and infrastructure management in the cloud environment. Partner with architects, technology and business stakeholders to define and implement capabilities and patterns for security, data, and operations in the cloud. Partner with Application Teams and Enterprise Architects to identify issues and roadblocks well in advance of problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology or related field plus 3 years of experience in the offered position or related position.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess expertise/ knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Required expertise/knowledge includes:
- AWS and Azure.
- Skilled in serverless and containerized architectures across AWS and Azure, including Lambda, API Gateway, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and API Management.
- Proficient in IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, ARM Templates, Bicep) with experience automating patching, backups, and resource maintenance for EC2, RDS, and Azure workloads.
- Expertise in monitoring (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Activity Logs), cost management, tagging strategies, and cloud governance frameworks which include AWS Landing Zone Accelerator.
- IAM audits, identity governance, remediation workflows (AWS Security Hub, Microsoft Defender for Cloud), and Azure security services (Azure AD, Key Vault, Policy, Management Groups).
- Skilled in Azure compute (VMs, App Service, Scale Sets, AVD), networking (VNet, DNS, ExpressRoute, Front Door, CDN), and databases/analytics (SQL Database, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL/MySQL).
- Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, ARM Templates, and Bicep.
- Compute & Networking, including Amazon EC2, RDS, VPC, Azure VMs, App Service, VNet, and ExpressRoute.
- Monitoring & Logging, including Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, and Activity Logs.
- Security & Governance, including IAM, AWS Security Hub, Azure AD, Azure Policy, and Defender for Cloud.
- Serverless & Containers, including AWS Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, EKS, Fargate, Azure Functions, and AKS.
- Automation & Backup, including AWS Systems Manager, AWS Backup, and Azure Automation.
- Databases, including Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
OTHER:
Job Site: Irvine, CA; 40 hours/week;
Salary range: $93,579 per year to $145,000 per year;
