PeopleGrove is seeking an Automation QA Engineer to support an agile product development team. This role will collaborate with product managers and engineers to test, iterate, and approve feature releases in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Candidates should have a strong interest in software development, technology, and the testing process as well as exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
The QA Engineer will report into QA Lead and work alongside Product, Engineering and Customer Success to develop innovative products in a fast-paced environment and automate test scenarios. This position presents the opportunity to work in a cross-functional and business-critical role in a rapidly growing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Build, expand, and optimize robust UI and API automation test suites using Playwright and TypeScript as the primary stack.
  • Maintain and scale existing automation architectures, implementing modular, highly maintainable Page Object Models (POM) and step abstractions.
  • Write resilient automation logic handling asynchronous control flows, custom promises, network interceptors, and robust element visibility loops.
  • Actively leverage next-generation AI coding tools (Cursor IDE, Claude 3.5 Sonnet/Opus, ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate test generation, script refactoring, and framework optimization.
  • Seamlessly integrate automated test execution suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins) to manage scheduled regression and night-run jobs.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams during planning and walkthroughs to map out acceptance criteria, translating them directly into automated and selective manual test coverage.
  • Isolate, document, and track software defects meticulously using Jira, collaborating directly with development teams to accelerate hotfixes.
  • Helps write and maintain test plans, test environments, test cases, automated and manual test scripts

Required Skills

  • Experience: 1 to 4 years of intensive hand-on experience dedicated to QA Automation Testing using Playwright with TypeScript (or strong JavaScript).
  • Proficient with Playwright primitives: locator actionability, native assertion matchers , multi-context/multi-tab handling, browser state reuse, and advanced locator strategies (CSS, text, and custom XPaths).
  • Strong foundation in core TypeScript/JavaScript development, including asynchronous primitives (async/await), conditional control loops, and comprehensive error resilience via structured try/catch blocks.
  • Practical proficiency working within Cursor IDE or utilizing Claude (Opus/Sonnet), ChatGPT, or Gemini for generating smart test coverage, drafting repetitive test steps, code explanation, and fast debugging.
  • Solid grounding in functional, regression, sanity, and integration testing methodologies alongside experience implementing Data-Driven or BDD/TDD test design patterns.
  • Regular hands-on experience using Git repositories for code management alongside execution setups in CI/CD pipeline environments.
  • Basic Knowledge on sql queries
  • Experience working with Git workflows including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and merge conflict resolution.

Additional Skills

  • Experience working with cross-browser cloud grids like BrowserStack, LambdaTest, or Sauce Labs.
  • Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes containers for deploying localized test runner environments.
  • Exposure to legacy test tools (Selenium Java, Cypress, or Appium) or API validation toolsets (REST Assured).
  • Knowledge of performance/load testing basics utilizing JMeter.
  • Familiarity with self-healing automation scripts and Al-based defect prediction.
  • Performance Testing (Jmeter/Load runner) and Security Testing is a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
