This position is an onsite role in San Diego, CA
The Automation Engineer will help design, build, and deliver world-changing laboratory automation systems. The role will assemble automation workcells and custom engineering projects, conduct instrumentation operational and Green Button Go driver testing, assist with the electrical system design and implementation of the workcells, develop and test Green Button Go workcell processes, and periodically assist with the site-installation of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Operational Acceptance Testing of components for our projects
- Assemble automation workcells and custom engineering projects
- Assist with the electrical and control system design of automation projects and products
- Configure electrical, pneumatic, and communications on automation workcells and custom engineering projects
- Conduct Green Button Go instrumentation driver testing
- Develop and test Green Button Go application processes for automation workcells and custom engineering projects
- Conduct site-installation and customer training of automation workcells and custom engineering projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or comparable field required
- Experience in Pharma/Life Sciences industry and using laboratory instrument from Beckman, Tecan, Agilent, etc. is preferred.
- Experience working with hand tools (drills, saws, wrenches, etc.) is a plus
- Experience in robotic automation (SCARA or 6 DOF robot arms) is is a plus
- Experience working through a project engineering (from initial requirements setting, design, procurement, build, testing, and delivery)
- EE knowledge around safety and power circuits is a plus
- PLC design experience is preferred but not required.
Training, Skills, Knowledge:
- Software/programming skills, especially with C#, preferred
- Ability to write professional technical reports and procedures
- Must be task focused and have a results-oriented attitude and approach to the job responsibilities
- Good oral and written communication skills and communicate effectively with customers
Compensation and Benefits
Total Compensation target is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. Benefits include 401K with company match, Flexible Vacation Policy, Health Benefits, Investment in Professional and Personal Development, and much more.
