Automation Engineer II

Location:  Smyrna, TN (TLC)

Overview:

The Automation Engineer II is responsible for development and execution of key automation solutions at Asurion’s Technical Logistic Center and associated SCM locations. This role ensures that current and future automation delivers their designed technical and value solutions. The Automation Engineering II will lead

deployment, support, and improvement of Asurion Supply Chain automated solutions.

This role will serve as a technical expert for automated solutions with full understanding of their functionality, interactions with other Asurion Systems, and Key Performance metrics for automated solutions they are assigned ownership of.

This role will support Automation Sr. Engineers to identify, research, and develop automation solutions for internal Supply chain customers including Supply Chain Operations, Process Engineering and Product Engineering teams to support automation vision and strategy. Additionally. this role will be the primary owner to execute the operations implementation of automated solutions.  This will include development of business cases, implementing solutions and improvements into a production environment, managing CAPEX expenditures, and ensuring agreed to functionality with on time cost and delivery.  Additionally, they will ensure proper training to all end user customers of automated solutions including Operations and Maintenance teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and support automation solutions to improve Ops capability and productivity, drive repair device cost reduction, and win client business.
  • Responsible for implementation and integration of automated solutions into a production environment ensuring agreed to functionality with on time cost and delivery
  • Develop dashboards, monitor KPIs, and address gaps to expected performance.
  • Drive the implementation of Automation solutions with vendors working closely with key internal customers including Process Engineering and Product Engineering to drive continuous improvement, new solution implementations, and overall process evolution.
  • Develop business cases to obtain approval for various Automated solutions, track performance to business cases including overall CAPEX / OPEX spend and validate savings
  • Internal coordination owner for Level 3 support and issue resolution beyond standard maintenance tasks and troubleshooting
  • Provide holistic system knowledge for automations interaction across multiple process owners (IT, Operations, Maintenance, external automation vendors/integrators)
  • Leverage knowledge of Asurion’s products, processes, and client commitments to anticipate and prevent issues caused by changes or interruptions, work with vendor to mitigate risk of disruption.
  • Partner with Data Analytics to drive the development and implementation of all Asurion reporting and analysis efforts for vendor monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; or equivalent industry experience with alternate degree
  • 4+ years’ experience working with / implementing automated solutions in manufacturing or supply chain environment
  • Ability to develop knowledge of Asurion systems, platforms and processes, and the ability to clearly articulate system or process functionality and capabilities for both internal and external teams
  • Proven knowledge of engineering concepts and demonstrated experience in automation
  • Ability to leverage data appropriately and an understanding of sensitivity surrounding program metrics; solid analytical skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results; strong bias for action
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex instructions, correspondence, legal documents, financial reports and/or technical documents in English.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office required including strong Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
  • Project management & process improvement skills beneficial
