We are seeking an Assurance Experienced Associate to join our State and Local Government Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of public sector clients, including cities, counties, special districts, and state agencies, while building expertise in governmental auditing, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.


What You'll Do

  • Execute audit procedures and evaluate financial and operational controls in accordance with professional standards.
  • Assist in planning and performing financial statement audits, Single Audits, and compliance engagements.
  • Identify audit issues, analyze findings, and contribute to practical recommendations for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with managers and partners on complex government engagements.
  • Develop expertise in governmental accounting and auditing standards, including GASB, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development programs.
  • Travel periodically to client sites throughout California and other US destinations as well. Travel 10-25%.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA eligible, actively pursuing CPA licensure, or currently licensed.
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience; government audit experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new audit technologies.

Salary Range: $78,000 to $90,000 plus comprehensive benefits package.
