About Marvell

Marvell’s semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, automotive, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.

At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.

Your Team, Your Impact

By delivering a stream of technical innovations through a diverse set of fast‐growing product lines, Marvell technology is powering the next‐generation network.
The Marvell Cloud Platform team is seeking an engineering leader to drive the next generation of hardware systems innovations. You will play a key role in defining, implementing, and leading teams to deliver reference designs and full turnkey hardware including low-power electrical and optical interconnect modules and subassemblies, high density ASIC systems hardware, and co-packaged optics full system solutions.
For Cloud networks, a leadership product line requires a “deployment-first” view of the customer end-market application. This starts with an understanding of the network level deployment and how connectivity solutions are architected for optimal manufacturing cost, performance, power, and reliability, with an appreciation for the development constraints customers face in delivering solutions at full deployment scale.

What You Can Expect

Working in partnership with system manufacturing partners including ODMs, ODMs, and OSATs, Marvell’s operations and quality teams, and a wide set of cross functional business units, you will envision, communicate, and build a vision for a hardware team which delivers cutting edge next generation solutions which will influence the evolution of the industry for cloud optimized infrastructure. You will lead an engineering team of high speed printed circuit board design specialists, optical systems design and manufacturing experts, and professionals focused on signal integrity modeling, simulation, and characterization. The team is focused on delivering both products and reference design hardware which is aligned with Marvell’s cutting edge communications infrastructure chipsets and silicon photonics devices. Operating in one of the most intense and high-paced markets in high-tech, this leader must move quickly to embrace new solutions and manage the team to tight schedules while maintaining high quality and robust designs.

This role requires exceptionally broad technical expertise and excellent communication skills necessary to lead a cross-functional team of experts and to influence diverse ecosystem partners. A spirit of teamwork and collaboration and an open mind for new solutions is essential to develop complex new solutions with multiple business units and a wide set of market-leading customers. The leader is required to drive long term staffing plans, project schedules, and organizational budgets anticipating customer needs based on market trends.

  • In cooperation with business unit teams and manufacturing partners, research and comprehend a long-term vision for next generation system hardware approaches, define and initiate programs to develop test vehicles as needed.

  • Lead and actively manage designs for reference hardware supporting product teams.

  • Define and lead methodologies and program plans for hardware system characterization.

  • Plan and lead documentation of design guidelines for customers and manufacturing partners.

  • Work directly with customers to service urgent support requests and to understand long term requirements for the product hardware offering.

  • Working in partnership with company stakeholders, define and implement a long-term growth and development plan for the team, anticipating near-term and long-term market requirements and the required skillsets necessary for product competitiveness and to meet market needs.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering

  • Minimum 15 years work experience in hardware development for networking or routing applications, or for optical communications products and subassemblies

  • Minimum 10 years management experience leading system engineering teams.

  • Deeply skilled in high-speed systems design integrating interconnect exceeding 100Gbps (across PCB, copper, or optical channels) and dense high-performance memory.

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and evaluating modern system approaches for high-speed interconnect, power distribution, advanced thermal mitigation, dense component integration, and in-system cable management.

  • Exposure to photonics technologies, advanced packaging, and high-density connector approaches and their implications for advanced hardware system design.

  • Familiar with mechanical design and structural design challenges associated with high-density power distribution, cooling, and in-system cabling.

  • Expert in methodologies and practices on manufacturing and test cost and total system quality.

  • Knowledge of system reliability mechanisms and modeling/predictive fail rate analysis.

  • Relevant industry experience with modern methodologies for simulation, design and characterization

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
