About the RoleThe Associate Technical Designer is responsible for managing all aspects of technical design to ensure the fit, function, and quality of our products meet both design vision and customer expectations. You will translate design concepts into precise technical specifications, partner closely with cross-functional teams, and drive the development of innovative activewear products from sketch to production.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Specifications & DevelopmentTranslate design concepts into clear, detailed tech packs, including specifications for fit, construction, and fabrications.
Develop and maintain accurate product specifications and garment measurements across all styles.
Create graded size specifications to ensure fit consistency across all size ranges.
Conduct and lead live fit sessions with cross-functional partners and fit models.
Evaluate and adjust garments to meet functional, performance, and aesthetic requirements.
Ensure all styles meet company fit standards, brand expectations, and customer needs.
Work closely with design, production, pattern making, and overseas factories to manage development from concept through final samples.
Partner with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve fit, construction, and quality issues.
Communicate technical updates, changes, and approvals to all relevant teams.
Ensure all fabrics, trims, and components undergo appropriate testing.
Collaborate with materials and product development teams to source and validate fabrics aligning with design intent and performance needs.
Identify and recommend process improvements, tools, and software to enhance technical design workflow.
Maintain and update PLM systems (Centric preferred) with current specifications and development status.
Review samples to ensure they meet high-quality standards before bulk production.
Approve final samples and partner with production teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in final product execution.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing, or a related field.
2+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry; activewear or performance apparel preferred.
Experience with garment fit, grading, construction, and activewear-specific fabrics.
Proficiency in PLM systems (Centric experience highly desirable).
Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and related design software.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, patterns, and manufacturing processes.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
Familiarity with performance fabric properties and testing protocols.
Experience working with international vendors and factories.
Knowledge of multiple apparel categories.
