Job Description

This position will own preparation for fit sessions and support garment evaluation, specification analysis and fit sessions. Direct communication with suppliers to ensure proper understanding of corrections needed for next sample stage. The role of Associate Technical Designer will be responsible for understanding and communicating fit/construction improvements and will work closely with technical design partners, design and product development to collectively make great quality active apparel. There is opportunity for an additional breadth of responsibilities in this role as we continue to grow as a brand. 

What you'll get to do:

  • Creation of new style specifications (from block or reference style) 
  • Maintain all specs and grades from initial set up through production (proto’s, PPs, Size Sets, TOPs) in Excel  
  • Prepares for fit sessions for assigned category following brand fit session guideline process (measures and pre-fits garments to identifies fit issues proactively) 
  • Communicates fit and construction related comments to the vendor and internal teams within development and production timelines in a professional manner 
  • Utilizes fit blocks and construction standards to ensure fit consistency and quality 
  • Experience with reading and correcting patterns either through software or via other methods (taking photos, drawing on patterns, etc.) 
  • Understanding and knowledge of grading, support and participate in grading projects. 
  • Works to improve fit and quality through review of customers comments, sales feedback, and understanding of competition 
  • Responsible for managing and hitting all deadlines along with communicating any challenges. 
  • Comfortable with working on variety of categories (knit, woven, performance, or lifestyle). 
  • Maintain full understanding of assigned styles and historical issues. 
  • Understanding fabrications and how they react with silhouettes. 
  • Is a team player, able to work closely with other team members to help manage overall workload with regards to construction, fit, approvals, comments, timelines, etc. 
  • Responsible for providing all assigned product related fit details for catalog / website. 

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Degree in tech design, patternmaking, or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a technical design role. 
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with cross functional teams (design, development, merch and production). 
  • Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills. 
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. 
  • Must be able to work proficiently in Outlook, Microsoft Excel  
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of computer patternmaking is a plus (example: Gerber, 3D V-Stitcher / Browzewear) 
  • Knowledge of PLM is a plus.

The hourly range for this role is $31.50/hr - $38/hr
