PetPlace, a subsidiary of IPH, is building a digital first pet e-commerce platform with the aim of connecting key market services such as adoption, lost pet and insurance to make pet care easy. 

Job Summary:
PetPlace is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to support our growing engineering team in building the next generation of pet care solutions. Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, this associate-level role is ideal for someone early in their development career with foundational skills in front-end or full-stack development and a desire to learn in a collaborative, Agile environment.

You’ll contribute to the development of new features, assist in code reviews, and gain exposure to product, UX, and business needs. This is a hands-on learning role with strong mentorship and growth opportunities.
 
Main Responsibilities:

  • Feature Development: Assist in implementing front-end and back-end features across our digital platforms.
  • Code Collaboration: Work under the guidance of senior developers to write clean, maintainable code.
  • Bug Fixing & QA Support: Help resolve bugs, perform testing, and contribute to improving application stability.
  • Agile Participation: Attend daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and planning meetings to stay aligned with team priorities.
  • Learning & Development: Actively seek feedback and opportunities to build technical and professional skills.
  • Documentation: Contribute to internal documentation to support development workflows and onboarding.
  • Provides alternatives, if necessary, on clarification of business requirements.
  • Defines and develops software engineering effort on full range of applications based on business needs and requirements.
  • Generates artifacts, detailed designs, and necessary documentation to support the development of applications.
  • Shares knowledge regarding design principles,
  • implementation techniques, emerging technologies, and trends.
  • Researches and identifies application opportunities around performance, scalability, and maintainability.

 
Qualifications:

  • 1 year relevant experience
  • Familiarity with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and basic backend technologies (Node.js or similar).
  • Exposure to Agile development principles, either through coursework, internships, or professional experience.
  • Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Education:

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience(One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)
  • Associate’s Degree in a Technical Field
  • Certification in relevant focus area

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Internship or capstone project involving web development or API integration.
•    Basic familiarity with database concepts and RESTful APIs.
•    Passion for pets or experience in e-commerce a plus.
