About the Role

ShipMonk is seeking an experienced Product Manager – Inbound to lead and scale inbound product capabilities across our fulfillment network. This role is ideal for a seasoned product professional with strong technical and analytical expertise who thrives in complex, data-driven environments and can translate operational realities into impactful product strategy.

In this role, you will own the inbound product domain end to end, from strategy and discovery through execution and optimization. You will leverage advanced SQL and analytics on a regular basis to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and drive product decisions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and merchant experience at scale.

You will partner closely with engineering, inbound operations, analytics, and senior stakeholders to define vision, prioritize initiatives, and deliver high-impact solutions. As a senior leader, you will also mentor junior product and analyst roles and help establish best practices across the product organization.

This position offers high ownership, strategic influence, and direct impact on ShipMonk’s core fulfillment operations.

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, product analytics, operations, or a related role.
  • Proven experience owning and delivering complex products in data-heavy, operational, or logistics-driven environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong analytical capabilities; comfortable working independently with large datasets.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with BI or data visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders, including merchants and internal leadership.
  • Experience creating and interpreting process flow diagrams, swimlanes, and operational/logistics documentation (e.g., Lucidchart, Miro, FigJam, Visio).
  • Prior experience in logistics, fulfillment, supply chain, or warehouse management systems is a strong plus.

Skills & Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Own the inbound product roadmap, defining vision, strategy, and success metrics aligned with business goals.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities using quantitative data, qualitative research, and operational insight.

PDLC Leadership

  • Lead the full product development lifecycle for inbound capabilities, including discovery, requirements definition, prioritization, execution, experimentation, and iteration.
  • Write clear, actionable product requirements and ensure high-quality delivery with engineering teams.

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with inbound operations, engineering, analytics, and senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Act as the primary product voice for inbound initiatives across the organization.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Use advanced analytics and SQL to identify trends, diagnose issues, measure outcomes, and validate product decisions.
  • Define and monitor KPIs related to inbound efficiency, accuracy, throughput, and merchant satisfaction.

Customer & Operational Insight

  • Lead customer and internal research efforts to deeply understand merchant needs and warehouse operational challenges.
  • Spend time on the warehouse floor to observe workflows, uncover pain points, and ensure solutions are grounded in real-world execution.

  • Partner with Go-to-Market, Operations, and Enablement teams to support successful product launches, training, documentation, and adoption.
  • Drive change management and ensure new capabilities are effectively rolled out across warehouses.

Mentorship & Growth

  • Mentor junior Product Managers and Product Analysts, supporting their development and raising the overall product maturity of the team.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
