About Ode with Anthropic

How do you turn a decades-old dataset into an industry-leading medical coding agent? Teach an AI receptionist to book appointments in Spanish? Automatically generate working data connectors from API docs? Build agents that write, test, and deploy their own software packages?

Anthropic is defining frontier AI. Ode is the team bringing frontier AI into practice.

We are a team of experienced builders who care deeply about getting complex AI systems into production, with strong conviction about what makes them succeed. As Anthropic’s services venture, we tackle the hardest, most consequential AI problems for companies with real stakes, working closely with their Applied AI and Product teams to turn frontier technology into real world impact.

We're backed by Anthropic, Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic, Leonard Green & Partners, Apollo Global Management, GIC, and Sequoia Capital.

We're headquartered in SF with offices in NYC, Raleigh-Durham, and Dubai.

The Role

The fastest way to learn how AI will reshape businesses is to go inside and help transform dozens of them. As an Associate Principal, you're the engine of our AI strategic advisory work — partnering with Principals to set companies' AI transformation agendas, and assessing value-creation opportunities and disruption risk across industries in diligence. In a given quarter you'll see inside several businesses and build pattern recognition that no other role in the market can offer.

This is the path to becoming the “fractional Chief AI Transformation Officer” our clients call first. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Principals on live engagements, proposals, and relationship building, taking on more of the selling motion as you go. The role is not quota-carrying today, but it's built to grow into one.

What You'll Do
  • Drive AI strategic advisory engagements end-to-end. You run point strategic engagements that set a company's transformation agenda or running diligence on an asset

  • Support live deals and the selling motion. Work alongside Principals on active pursuits — joining discovery calls, shaping proposals, helping manage relationships — and learn how we scope, price, and position our work.

  • Build your network. Through engagements and deal support, build durable relationships with executives and investors.

  • Be a high-utility player. As an early-stage company, the work extends beyond any one engagement — you'll jump into adjacent streams like partnership development, thought leadership, or internal tooling and process improvement.

What You Bring
  • High ownership, comfort with ambiguity. Engagement windows are tight, and you drive the work forward without waiting to be told what to do.

  • Learning agility and analytical horsepower. You ramp quickly on an unfamiliar industry, identify what matters, and form a defensible point of view — turning pattern-matching across engagements into a compounding advantage.

  • Crisp communication, written and verbal. You translate technical AI concepts into business language that lands with executives and deal teams.

  • Relationship-building instinct. You build rapport with people and are energized, not drained, by client-facing work.

  • AI-native. You're genuinely interested in AI and have a working understanding of what generative AI can and can't do. You don't need to be an engineer, but you need to be credible in a room with one.

  • Low ego, high resourcefulness. You're both a doer and a strategist.

3-Month Snapshot
  • You've contributed to several AI strategic advisory engagements alongside our Principals, progressing from supporting role to execution lead.

  • You're independently driving key takeaways, executive interviews, and deliverable creationn on active engagements.

  • You've joined live sales or account conversations with a Principal, and are starting to understand how we scope, price, and position our work.

  • You've identified at least one way to improve how we operate — process, tooling, templates — and started making it better.

Our Values

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
