The Team:

The North America Consumer Products team delivers strategic category plans and drives licensing partnerships across Mattel's portfolio of brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, Thomas & Friends and UNO. We engage consumers by extending our iconic brands & franchises through consumer products.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is seeking a motivated Associate Manager to join our Consumer Products organization based in El Segundo, CA at our corporate headquarters. The Associate Manager will support the growth of the Consumer Products business through new initiatives and strategic focus areas

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Serve as point of contact for assigned licensees/Categories which includes responsibility for account management, line planning, product and marketing approvals, and financials.
  • Alignment with internal Creative and Licensees to line plan and develop products and programs that support key brands and franchise initiatives.
  • Act as liaison with category manager/licensees to gather and finalize contract details; Ensure contract completion by uploading contract terms to RightsLogic portal and managing workflow with legal and finance counterparts.
  • Request and track licensee sell-in and POS reports, along with retailer programs and projections.   
  • Request and track quarterly forecast reports from licensees, supporting manager, ensuring data is uploaded to portal.
  • Analyze quarterly forecast reports from licensees and understand key change drivers, areas of opportunity, and potential risks.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with licensees, business partners, and other external and internal partners on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support various cross-functional requests for collaboration with images and product information including creative, marketing, PR, retail development, etc.
  • Manage category production samples, storage, and inventory.
  • Evaluate category for white space opportunities; Ability to outreach and pitch in pursuit of new potential partnerships.
  • Continually evaluate emerging trends and retail landscape in order to help enhance Mattel’s position within the competitive marketplace.
  • Compile market analysis and trends to share with team, including store checks, fashion trends, white space, competitive, and category innovation.
  • Support development of pitch ideas in collaboration with creative and retail development teams to support sell-in of key programs.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 Years Experience in consumer products/licensing
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Effective analytical and research skills and ability to identify trends and understand financial forecasts.
  • General planning and project management skills.
  • General understanding of licensing processes and procedures as well as laws and regulations.
  • General understanding of the organizational structure and business objectives of licensees and other key business partners.
  • Ability to foster relationships and navigate in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Effective analytical and research skills and ability to identify trends, evaluate white space and understand financial forecasts.
  • Effective PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Effective presentation skills in both virtual and in-person settings, including proficiency in creating effective presentations.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $91,000 and $135,200 
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience. Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
