The Associate General Counsel supports solar project transactions, negotiates contracts, manages legal issues, and collaborates with various stakeholders.
Position Summary
Nautilus Solar Energy’s (“NSE”) Associate General Counsel will be responsible for supporting NSE’s solar project acquisition, development, EPC negotiations and financing transactions. The Associate General Counsel will be a key member of a growing legal team and can have the opportunity to be integrally involved through the life cycle of a project. The position will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel and is remote.
Responsibilities:
- Provide transactional assistance and support on a variety of solar acquisition, development and financing transactions, including managing project due diligence and negotiating purchase agreements.
- Responsible for negotiation of EPC contracts and related documents.
- Manage and coordinate with developers, EPC contractors and outside counsel.
- Support NSE departments in navigating legal issues arising during acquisition, development,
- construction and operation of projects.
- Provide organizational support to managing outside counsel.
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Current license to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions.
- 3+ years of legal experience in the renewables industry; solar DG or community solar experience preferred.
- Experience working with EPC contracts.
- Familiarity with financing structures (debt and tax equity).
- Ability to interface with different levels and functions of the organization as well as with external parties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, seeking guidance from team members and Chief Legal & Administrative Officer as needed.
