Associate General Counsel, Consumer Privacy, AI & Product

We are now seeking a talented attorney to join our legal team and help us continue to innovate and deliver exceptional service.

The Associate General Counsel Consumer Privacy, AI & Product role is a critical addition to our legal team and will report to our Chief Financial Officer and work collaboratively with our Head of Legal and in-house Estate Planning attorneys. You will be the in-house expert on consumer privacy law and usage of AI relating to product development,  website disclosures, as well as supporting the negotiation of privacy clauses in our commercial contracts/strategic partnerships.. This role is for someone who is passionate about technology, privacy, AI and the law, and who is looking to take ownership of their work and make a significant impact.

You are an experienced attorney with a strong background in privacy law, AI and a keen interest in product development. You are ready to take on the responsibility of owning the privacy domain within the company and are excited about the opportunity to support a dynamic legal function. You are a proactive self-starter, comfortable with both leading initiatives and collaborating across departments. You have a knack for simplifying complex legal concepts and aligning legal strategies with business objectives.

About the Role:

With support from the Legal team, you will:

• Lead the company's privacy program, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Help operationalize privacy and introduce scalable solutions to improve management of privacy tickets, data records, PIAs and other privacy projects.
• Be the subject matter expert on legal aspects of artificial intelligence at the company and help Trust & Will become the leader in artificial intelligence in estate planning solutions.
• Identify and mitigate privacy legal risks throughout the product lifecycle, proposing adjustments or alternative solutions, as necessary. 
• Collaborate with our in-house Legal team on estate planning product development that fosters innovation while managing privacy risk.
• Collaborate with our commercial team on privacy and artificial intelligence standards for vendor and customer agreements.

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant legal experience, with a strong focus on privacy law.
• Experience in technology or product development within a legal framework.
• Proven track record of reviewing privacy clauses in commercial contracts and strategic partnerships with a practical lens.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future required.
