Your Role as an Associate Editor:
The Content Studio is looking for an Associate Editor who can help us research, develop and create content in the paint/coatings, trucking and agricultural industries. This key role on our team is a blend of writing and managing projects and includes the opportunity to be involved in several aspects of creating content across multiple platforms including print, online, and social. You’ll pitch, write, and collaborate with our internal account management team as well as our clients.
A Day in the Life of an Associate Editor:
The day-to-day make-up of the role consists of 60% editorial/writing and 40% account service.
Key Results Area (KRA): Support the editorial and client services team in creating, optimizing and presenting content. This role combines strong writing/editing skills with data-driven decision-making, using analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to improve content performance and audience engagement. This is a client-facing role requiring strong presentation skills.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Content Management
- Pitch, write, and refresh content
- Ensure consistency with brand voice and editorial guidelines
- Collaborate with designers and other stakeholders
- Assist in content planning, calendars, and topic development
Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Monitor content performance using tools like Google Analytics
- Analyze metrics such as traffic, engagement, and conversions
- Apply SEO best practices
- Identify trends and audience behavior patterns
- Provide actionable recommendations based on analytics and data-backed insights
- Create analytics PowerPoint decks demonstrating content performance
Client Services
- Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding assigned editorial projects
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships
- Ensure all deliverables align with client expectations and briefs
- Communicate revisions to internal teams and ensure changes are applied
- Anticipate client needs and proactively suggest improvements
- Identify opportunities to add value (e.g., content enhancements, new ideas)
- Contribute to long-term client retention and account growth
Administrative & Reporting Tasks
- Use project management or CRM tools to track workflows
- Prepare client facing presentations as necessary
- Post content within WordPress content management system
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Create and manage the content lifecycle from ideation to publication, ensuring all deliverables are on time, on strategy, and on brand.
- Collaborate with internal teams (design, digital, SEO, media, analytics, and client strategy) to deliver cohesive, multi-channel content experiences.
- Track content performance across channels using analytics platforms and provide actionable insights for ongoing optimization.
- Ensure consistent brand tone, messaging, and storytelling across all marketing materials.
- Stay informed on industry trends, audience behaviors, and emerging technologies to enhance content relevance and reach.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, media, or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in content marketing or communications, ideally in a client-facing environment.
- Experience in paint/coatings industry and/or trucking industry desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of SEO, content performance metrics, and data-driven storytelling.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with project management tools (Asana) and analytics/reporting platforms (Google Analytics).
- Proficiency with WordPress content management system.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate creative strategies and performance insights clearly.
- Collaborative mindset with a balance of creative thinking and analytical rigor.
