About the Role:

We are looking for an Associate Director of Social Strategy to lead creative and social strategy across some of our most culturally significant accounts. This is a senior role for someone who thinks in ideas first, understands how culture moves, and knows how to translate that into platform-native content that actually resonates. You will serve as the strategic lead on key AOR and project-based accounts, owning the creative framework, content strategy, and cultural point of view from brief through execution. You will work closely with Creative, Accounts, and Production teams and serve as a trusted thought partner to clients at the VP and CMO level. We need someone with a genuine editorial sensibility, proactive ideas, and the confidence to push work forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day social and creative strategy across assigned accounts, including always-on content, tentpole campaigns, and bespoke activations.
  • Develop cultural frameworks, trend forecasts, and proactive pitches that keep clients ahead of the conversation.
  • Serve as the strategic lead in client-facing settings, presenting ideas with clarity and conviction to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative, Accounts, Production, and Social Media teams to ensure strategic vision is carried through to execution.
  • Contribute to new business pitches and RFPs as a key creative strategy voice.
  • Oversee and mentor junior strategists, providing direction and feedback that elevates the quality of the work.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of platform best practices, emerging formats, and cultural moments across TikTok, Instagram, X, and beyond.
Requirements:
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in social strategy, creative strategy, or content strategy, preferably at an agency.
  • Deep fluency in music, culture, and entertainment -- you know what's happening before it trends.
  • Strong editorial instincts and the ability to develop a distinct brand voice across platforms.
  • Experience leading strategy on large-scale AOR accounts or major brand campaigns.
  • Confident presenter and communicator, comfortable in client-facing settings with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Experience with talent, creator, or influencer-led content is a plus.

The pay range for the full time position is $120,000 - 135,000 per year. The full time position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Please note that compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to local salary transparency laws.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.

This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
