Tempus AI is expanding our high-performing Scientific Affairs team to support the commercial customer focus of the Oncology Genomics business segment of the company. We are seeking a medical affairs professional in oncology with experience in therapeutics and/or diagnostics, and with excellent communication skills to help lead the education of internal and external stakeholders on the application of Tempus NGS and additional diagnostic technologies. This position will report to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs.
We are considering candidates residing across the U.S. for this remote position.
Responsibilities:
Function as an internal scientific/technical expert with respect to all Tempus oncology test offerings;
Contribute to the development of scientifically/technically accurate and comprehensive marketing messages/collateral for external and internal stakeholders;
Review and approve Oncology Marketing promotional content, outreaches, training materials, webinars;
Provide the Oncology commercial-facing teams with strategic and tactical medical support and education with the objectives of incorporating Tempus oncology tissue NGS, liquid biopsy (ctDNA) and algorithmic test offerings into clinical practice;
Aid in the recruitment and hiring of SALs, as needed, with management of the performance and development of direct reports;
Oversee day-to-day functions and management of the global medical information support team while continuing to maintain the highest standards of regulatory and scientific integrity;
Identify any internal education gaps with respect to Tempus’ new and existing oncology products, and facilitate closing those gaps via multimodal approaches;
Continuously update internal stakeholders on relevant medical and scientific knowledge as well as proactively developing market intelligence on existing competitor products and products in development;
Attend key oncology clinical and scientific congresses in support of the Medical Affairs team’s coverage planning and synthesis of conference learnings of high impact abstracts/posters/oral presentations to internal teams
Required Skills:
Fundamental understanding of the field of molecular oncology and related clinical patient management diagnostic algorithms with NCCN, ASCO, and ESMO guidelines
Keen attention to detail in review/approval for medical/legal/regulatory content submissions
Exceptional interpersonal communication and writing skills, strong inter- and intradepartmental management skills, ability to educate and train
Public speaking skills and ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific topics and concepts
Strong business acumen with ability to define strategies and manage operational plans to achieve strategic business objectives
Self-starter with an ownership mindset able to work and deliver on tight timelines
Working knowledge of genomic laboratory developed testing (LDT) and companion diagnostic (CDx) devices; familiarity with CLIA, CAP, Sunshine Act, FDA regulated diagnostic tests
Must reside within the U.S. with ability to travel (≤ 20%)
Education and Required Experience:
Advanced scientific or medical degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, BSN, MSN, MS, MA, GC); doctoral degree preferred
5+ years experience with oncology and molecular diagnostic testing in biotech or pharmaceutical industries preferred
Experience in Medical Information preferred
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 USD
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from California and may vary for other locations (Colorado, Illinois, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
