Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Finance, the Associate Director, Revenue Accounting and Financial Reporting (“AD Revenue”) is a new role within the Finance organization to aid the build out of accounting policies, accounting operations, and internal controls in all aspects of the order-to-cash cycle. The AD Revenue is expected to be the subject matter expert in all aspects of the order-to-cash process, revenue recognition technical accounting, and gross-to-net. In the near term, the AD Revenue is an individual contributor role that will be hands-on and focus on detailed work pertaining to month-end close activities and contribute to controls documentation, including authoring narratives, process risks assessment, and internal control design. The AD Revenue is expected to grow into a strategic management role and will build, recruit, and manage the revenue team as the finance department grows in the future.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead in the design and implementation of the order-to-cash processes and internal controls over financial reporting without unnecessary complexities in processes.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in gross-to-net matters and work closely with commercial teams.
  • Serve as a key partner with internal stakeholders in areas including, but not limited to, Market Access, Commercial Operations, and Commercial IT.
  • Drive and coordinate the timely and accurate update of gross-to-net model, assumption, and input.
  • Prepare, own and maintain the revenue accounting policies in connection with ASC 606.
  • Lead and prepare period-end financial reporting activities associated with all aspects of revenue and accounts receivable.
  • Collaborate and lead in the preparation of periodic reporting of GAAP revenue dashboard to internal stakeholders.
  • Own and prepare internal control documentation in the order-to-cash and related areas (e.g., commissions).
  • Work with 3PL vendor(s) to coordinate data gathering to support the accounting and reporting for revenue.
  • Assist in compiling and maintaining high-quality and organized documentation to support the select disclosures in SEC filings.
  • Assess system requirements for the order-to-cash areas in support of organizational growth, lead system implementations, updates, or improvements.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to design and improve processes.
  • Support the periodic integrated audits and quarterly reviews with auditors.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects as needed.
  • In the future, recruit, manage, and develop a revenue team.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent business administration area
  • 10 years of relevant and progressive experience
  • 7 years of managing teams
  • Experienced in commercialized therapeutic biotechnology companies
  • Strong knowledge in revenue recognition in connection with gross-to-net

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of Big Four public accounting experience
  • Certified public accountant (CPA)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

Travel:

You may be required to travel for up to 5% of your time.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $148,000 - $185,000.

In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match.
