Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq ARWR) is a commercial stage biopharmaceutical company that develops medicines that treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes that cause them. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and efficient modes of delivery, Arrowhead therapies trigger the RNA interference mechanism to induce rapid, deep, and durable knockdown of target genes. RNA interference, or RNAi, is a mechanism present in living cells that inhibits the expression of a specific gene, thereby affecting the production of a specific protein. Arrowhead’s RNAi-based therapeutics leverage this natural pathway of gene silencing.

Arrowhead is focused on developing innovative drugs for diseases with a genetic basis, typically characterized by the overproduction of one or more proteins that are involved with disease. The depth and versatility of our RNAi technologies enables us to potentially address conditions in virtually any therapeutic area and pursue disease targets that are not otherwise addressable by small molecules and biologics. Arrowhead is leading the field in bringing the promise of RNAi to address diseases outside of the liver, and our clinical pipeline includes disease targets in the liver and lung with a promising pipeline of preclinical candidates.

Arrowhead’s corporate headquarters is in Pasadena, CA with research and development teams in Madison, WI & San Diego, CA, and a state of the art manufacturing facility in Verona, WI.  Our employees are nimble, science-driven innovators who are collaborating to bring new therapies to patients in need.

The Position

Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly strategic and results-driven Regional Key Account Associate Director (KAM AD) to lead a team of Key Account Managers responsible for enterprise engagement across priority health systems and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). This role is critical to architecting scalable system adoption and ensuring durable access and pull-through for Arrowhead’s cardiometabolic portfolio, including Plozasiran targeting rare and high-need cardiovascular conditions.

The Regional KAM Associate Director will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution—driving system-level formulary positioning, pathway integration, and enterprise alignment while developing a high-performing team capable of navigating complex healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Strategy & System Leadership

  • Monitor system-level adoption metrics and implement corrective strategies to accelerate pull-through.
  • Lead regional enterprise business reviews and provide strategic recommendations to senior commercial leadership.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Key Account Managers.
  •  Conduct structured field coaching focused on executive engagement, value storytelling, and health economics discussions.
  • Elevate team capability in navigating complex decision-making hierarchies within health systems.
  • Build succession plans and leadership readiness within the regional KAM organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, compliance, and strategic accountability.

Executive & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support executive-level stakeholder engagement including C-suite, pharmacy leadership, P&T committees, population health leaders, and value analysis committees.
  • Guide compliant value-based discussions, including health economic and real-world evidence conversations.
  • Ensure alignment between enterprise decision-makers and field-level prescriber activation efforts.
  • Navigate multi-layered institutional approval processes with strategic agility.

Cross-Functional Enterprise Alignment

  • Partner closely with Regional Sales Directors to align system strategy with territory execution.
  • Coordinate with Health IT leaders to support EHR integration and patient identification initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Operations to remove systemic barriers.
  • Provide actionable regional insights regarding competitive dynamics, formulary positioning, and access trends.

Business & Performance Accountability

  • Own regional enterprise performance targets and adoption objectives.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and system-level growth indicators.
  • Drive disciplined CRM documentation and reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliant and ethical conduct across all enterprise engagements.

Travel & Engagement

  • Field-based travel required (~60%), including system-level meetings and executive engagements.
  • Participation in regional and national commercial meetings and launch initiatives.

 Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience required.
  • Significant experience in IDN, health system, or enterprise account management required.
  • Prior leadership experience managing account-based teams strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success influencing formulary, protocol, or pathway decisions within complex institutions.
  • Strong executive presence with ability to engage senior institutional stakeholders.
  • Advanced strategic planning and enterprise account management expertise.
  • Deep understanding of health system economics, reimbursement dynamics, and access pathways.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into compelling value narratives.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
