About the role:
The Associate Director, Insights & Intelligence will lead the development of relevant market, competitor, and consumer intelligence to support Oscar's insurance product organization. This role serves as a strategic advisor across product, market leadership, actuarial, network, growth, and finance teams, translating complex market dynamics into actionable recommendations that drive product strategy, portfolio optimization, retention, growth, and market expansion decisions.
This leader will oversee market intelligence programs, competitive analysis, consumer insights, and strategic reporting efforts while helping shape long-term product and market strategy across Oscar's lines of business.

Work Location: This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Virginia. Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $180,504 - $236,911 per year in New Jersey, New York, and California. The base pay for all other locations is: $$162,453- $213,220 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Insights
- Lead development of insurance product and market specific competitive intelligence strategies across Oscar's geographies served
- Oversee creation of relevant market insights tied to growth, retention, product performance, market expansion, and portfolio optimization
- Translate market research, regulatory filings, financial performance, and competitor activity into executive-level recommendations to serve downstream teams
- Develop frameworks for competitor tracking on product, market and demographic sizing, consumer insights, and right to win assessments
- Partner cross-functionally to support product lifecycle management, strategic planning, and market-level decisions
- Lead a team focused on market intelligence, research, and competitive analysis
- Establish team priorities, operating rhythm, development plans, and performance expectations
- Foster a collaborative analytical, and insight-driven culture centered on continuous improvement and strategic thinking
- Provide guidance and mentorship across research methodologies, storytelling, executive communication, and strategic problem solving
- Oversee cross-functional reporting, market intelligence deliverables, dashboards, and strategic presentations
- Partner with product, actuarial, network, sales, growth, and finance teams to support market-level programs
- Evaluate external research and intelligence vendors
- Support development of standardized methodologies, reporting frameworks, and governance structures
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, public health, economics, marketing, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare strategy, competitive intelligence, market research, consulting, insurance product, or related function
- 4+ years of people leadership or direct team management experience
- Experience with ACA, individual and family plans, small group markets, and healthcare competitive dynamics
- Experience drawing relevant insights from ambiguous data programs and translating findings into executive-level recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and partners, operating in a cross-functional and opaque environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Bonus points:
- Master's degree (MBA, MPH, MHA)
- Experience supporting health insurance product strategy or portfolio management
- Experience building or scaling market intelligence and research functions
- Experience with PowerBI, SQL, Looker, or other analytics reporting platforms
- Consulting or payer strategy experience

Pay Transparency: Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
