The Associate Director is a strategic, business-focused technology leader who partners with IT and senior business stakeholders to translate enterprise priorities into impactful digital solutions. This role drives alignment and operational excellence across the digital portfolio, enabling transformation through innovation, emerging technologies, and data-driven strategies.

Key responsibilities include: maintaining deep expertise in the organization’s product catalog, identifying clinical and operational needs, and leading the development of scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions. A strong customer focus is essential, with a commitment to understanding end-user pain points and improving experiences for both patients and providers. The ideal candidate brings a blend of healthcare knowledge, technical expertise, and business analysis skills to support innovation and operational excellence across the network. Success in this role requires strong time management, prioritization, and learning agility.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement & Needs Assessment

  • Engage clinical and operational stakeholders to identify pain points and unmet needs.
  • Analyze current digital landscapes and define future-state solutions aligned to strategic goals.
  • Partner with initiative owners to influence and facilitate execution of key initiatives.

Product & Catalog Expertise

  • Serve as SME for the Network’s digital product catalog.
  • Maintain and update regional catalog with usage insights and adoption opportunities.
  • Provide training and documentation to promote awareness and usage of available solutions.

Solution Design, Enablement & Market Scanning

  • Translate business and clinical needs into scalable, secure, user-centric requirements.
  • Conduct market scans and vendor research to identify integrated solutions.
  • Build business cases for new products, including ROI and feasibility.
  • Coordinate Third Party Security Assessment lifecycle with vendors and internal teams.

Operational Support & Coordination

  • Shape the digital strategy and solutions roadmap.
  • Coordinate planning sessions, quarterly reviews, and offsites.
  • Provide analysis to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage operating rhythm, agendas, and insights.

Leadership Communication & Execution Support

  • Foster transparency across IT teams and business units.
  • Draft communications for leadership (Board, C-suite, key meetings).
  • Translate IT and digital strategies into clear, compelling narratives.

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 7+ years of relevant professional experience in digital strategy, healthcare technology, or consulting. Or a Bachelor’s degree.

Required:

  • 7+ years in IT/digital strategy, solutions, or consulting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across a dynamic portfolio.
  • Strong ability to balance strategy with execution.
  • Skilled in influencing without authority.
  • Exceptional communicator and problem solver.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive business transformation through digital innovation, leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven strategies to deliver measurable enterprise value.
  • Management consulting experience
  • Master’s degree in Health Informatics, MBA, or related discipline.
  • Experience in oncology or radiation settings.
  • Experience in multi-site healthcare networks.
  • Knowledge of digital health trends, EHR systems, and interoperability standards.
  • Experience with ROI modeling and business case development.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and digital product lifecycle management.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field.

Travel

Travel up to 20% for clinics, conferences, and workshops.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$105,500 - $175,900
