  • Ensure efficient workflow and documentation of preventive maintenance (PMs) and work orders (WOs) and justify the need for additional resources or external support when necessary
  • Implement reliability centered maintenance programs and conduct life cycle analysis for all critical systems
  • Serve as the engineering lead for sustainability, supporting the identification and implementation of energy improvement projects across the campus, while tracking and reporting progress toward sustainability goals
  • Partner with Project Engineering and Project Managers to ensure the smooth transition of Projects into day-to-day operations
  • Create and maintain an environment where team members experience personal and professional growth and drive towards becoming a high performing team
  • Coach, develop and provide feedback to drive individual and team performance
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and plan for future talent needs
  • Develop and align an engineering site vision that supports the organization's contribution to the Biologics OpU goal
  • Optimize the use of internal and external resources to achieve business objectives
  • Manage the budget, approve expenditures, issue purchase orders, and forecast expenses
  • Submit capital requests to support equipment replacements, upgrades, and other improvement projects as needed
  • Leverage extensive knowledge and experience in cross-functional team environments to coordinate and lead multiple engineering teams and individual contributors, ensuring plant objectives are met while preparing for future expansion
  • Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines and policies and enforcing compliance with California state, regulatory, and federal EPA regulations
  • Oversee the repair, maintenance, and operation of regulated systems in accordance with the requirements of relevant agencies
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience. Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other FDA-regulated industry strongly preferred

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
