Associate Accountant
Essential Job Functions:
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with monthly and quarterly close, including performing bank reconciliations, posting quarterly expenses and allocation of overhead costs
- Prepare closing results and analyze the Branch’s financial performance
- Scan and record documents and mail, including cheques, letters of credit, and invoices. Maintain the inventory of letters of credit and other forms of reinsurance collateral
- Ensure proper coding of all Canadian accounts payable
- Assist with the preparation of tax packages; assist in the preparation of the budget and the associated packages
- Run and maintain reports, including the Trial Balance, adding new accounts as necessary
- Forecast and calculate insurance premium tax and income tax
- Liaise with internal and external auditors; gather audit evidence and answer inquiries from external auditors
- Additional assignments/projects that may be assigned by the Senior Accountant or Controller
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, 0-2 years of experience
- Enrolled in CPA program
- Strong Excel skills
- Attention to detail
- Workday Financial experience preferred
- Insurance experience a plus
Salary Range: $55,000 - $75,000 CAD, depending on qualifications and experience
