The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that align with the Corporation's lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams, businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.

Merchant Services is a line of business within JPMorgan's Payments business, and is a global merchant acquirer that provides payment processing services (authorizations, conveyance and settlement of transactions involving credit and debit cards, electronic checks and other payment methods).

Responsibilities
- Drafting and negotiating various agreements
- Advising on products and services, including contract negotiation and documentation
- Advising on marketing documents and new business initiatives
- Interpreting existing laws, rules and regulations and advising on changes thereto
- Coordinating with Legal Department members in other lines of business on a variety of legal, regulatory and business matters
- Providing legal advice to the business and corporate functions on a broad range of issues.
- Collaborating with other functional partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues as they arise
- Participating in cross line of business initiatives/practice groups as a subject matter expert.
- Managing outside counsel
Required qualifications
- Approximately 5 - 8 years of experience in a law firm or in-house
- LL.B./J.D. or educational equivalent required. Candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
- Strong legal and technical drafting skills
- Transactional and negotiating experience
- Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately
- A proven ability to comfortably operate in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to think strategically
- Ability to write well and communicate effectively to both legal and non-legal professionals, including senior executives
- Ability to build and maintain good client and colleague relationships.
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
