The Role:

We are seeking an accounting leader to join our lean and incredibly talented team. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in building out our accounting organization, and ensuring the integrity of our financial records. You’ll be reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Capital Markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements

  • Support the external financial audit process

  • Provide guidance in all aspects of accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

  • Own the end-to-end accounting processes, reconciliations, policies, and activities related to the Atlas Card; this includes accounting for and assessing the appropriateness of estimates and assumptions used in rewards, network fees, card receivables, and CECL

  • Design and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting

  • Ensure timely close through the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analytics

  • Create sustainable, repeatable, and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation

  • Serve as a key contact for the broader business organization to help with key projects, initiatives, transactions, and planning recommendations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA strongly preferred

  • 6+ years of public accounting and/or private industry experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for having an owner’s mentality toward responsibilities and for career growth

  • Experience implementing and improving business processes and systems

  • Must be willing to work in office in San Francisco or New York City

Bonus points

  • A combination of public accounting and private industry experience

  • Relevant experience in credit card/payment processing

  • Familiarity with credit facilities, including financial covenants, weekly reporting, and credit borrowing

  • Experience with ERP implementation

  • Knowledge and experience using accounting software (NetSuite), Looker, and/or other data visualization/automation software
