As part of the SoftBank Group, Graphcore is a member of an elite family of companies responsible for some of the world’s most transformative technologies. We are opening a new AI Engineering Campus in Austin, which will play a central role in Graphcore's work building the future of AI computing.

Role Description

Graphcore is seeking a highly organized and technically knowledgeable Program Manager to lead asset, material, inventory, and logistics operations supporting our global R&D infrastructure. This individual will build and operate the end-to-end material lifecycle that enables our engineering labs and data centers - ensuring that hardware, from custom accelerators and AI systems to networking equipment and spares, is received, tracked, inventoried, deployed, transferred, and retired with accuracy and efficiency.
In this role, you will lead the operational integration and execution of asset management, inventory control, and inbound/outbound logistics processes across Graphcore's global engineering labs and data centers. Working closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Facilities, IT, Trade Compliance, and logistics partners, you will drive inventory accuracy, material traceability, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness while ensuring enterprise asset management processes are effectively adopted and continuously improved to support Graphcore's rapidly evolving engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of hardware assets and materials - from procurement and receiving through inventory management, deployment, inter-site transfers, retirement, and secure disposal.
  • Own the operational integration and adoption of enterprise asset management, inventory control, and material tracking processes and tools within Graphcore's engineering labs and data centers, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and operational requirements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Facilities, IT, Trade Compliance, and external logistics providers to ensure seamless material flow, inventory accuracy, and operational readiness across global engineering sites.
  • Lead inventory planning, asset tracking, reconciliation, cycle counts, and on-site spares programs to maintain inventory integrity and support uninterrupted engineering operations.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound domestic and international logistics, including receiving, unloading, processing, staging, shipping, and inter-site asset transfers.
  • Ensure compliance with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) import requirements, HTS classifications, Incoterms, customs documentation, and applicable import/export regulations while coordinating with customs brokers and logistics providers.
  • Serve as the primary US point of contact for logistics providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL, Expeditors) to ensure the timely, secure, and compliant movement of hardware assets.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for asset management, inventory control, and domestic and international logistics operations to drive consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor asset utilization, inventory health, logistics performance, and audit readiness through dashboards, reporting, and operational metrics.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in: Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in hardware operations, asset management, inventory management, logistics, or supply chain within a technology or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of technical hardware assets in R&D labs, data centers, AI/ML, HPC, or similar engineering environments.
  • Experience integrating and operationalizing enterprise asset management (EAM) and inventory control processes using platforms such as ServiceNow, Odoo, NetBox, or similar asset management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, asset tracking, material flow, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, and inbound/outbound domestic and international logistics.
  • Working knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) import requirements, HTS classifications, Incoterms, customs documentation, and coordination with customs brokers and logistics providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, Facilities, Trade Compliance, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience developing operational metrics and dashboards, driving process improvements, and implementing scalable operational workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AI/ML infrastructure, HPC environments, or large-scale engineering labs.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international logistics, inter-site asset transfers, and reverse logistics (RMA).
  • Familiarity with export controls, ITAR/EAR compliance, and hardware chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Experience supporting global R&D, engineering infrastructure, or data center operations.
  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, APICS/CSCP, or equivalent certification.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
