Position Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of damage appraisals while identifying the most cost‑effective repair or replacement solutions. Additional responsibilities include supporting Total Loss valuations, resolving customer complaints, and efficiently managing multiple estimating platforms.

The position also oversees facilities within the assigned territory to ensure training, quality, and customer service standards are consistently met. Duties include inspecting completed repairs, evaluating repair costs, and accurately assessing both indemnity and expense exposures.

Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, exceptional customer service, effective teamwork, and a commitment to continuous professional development. Travel may be required for meetings and catastrophe deployments.

Work Arrangement:
Candidates must reside in the Santa Monica / Los Angeles / Long Beach area to be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete accurate and timely damage appraisals.

  • Determine the most economical repair or replacement options; support Total Loss valuation decisions.

  • Address customer complaints and ensure a high‑quality customer experience.

  • Triage and utilize multiple estimating platforms quickly and efficiently.

  • Oversee facility performance within assigned territory, ensuring adherence to quality, training, and customer service standards.

  • Conduct re‑inspections of repaired vehicles and evaluate associated costs.

  • Accurately assess indemnity and expense exposures.

  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment while maintaining a focus on continuous professional development.

  • Travel as needed for meetings and catastrophe duty.

Qualifications:

  • Must reside in the Santa Monica / Los Angeles / Long Beach area.

  • Minimum of 2 years of damage estimating experience and auto claims handling experience.

  • Experience in a customer‑focused service industry is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to maintain credibility, trust, and integrity.

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Possession of the applicable state adjuster’s license, or willingness to obtain one if required.

  • Ability to travel as needed for business requirements, meetings, and catastrophe duty.

Additional Information:

A Hartford‑branded company car is provided.
As a condition of employment, you must reside within your assigned territory. Failure to meet this requirement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$62,480 - $93,720
