Job Description

At Arity, our Analytics team is at the core of helping us transform mobility. They not only know how to analyze and find meaning within the data, but are passionate about how it affects the end-users of our products. They work with a treasure trove of massive data sets every day—after all, Arity is constantly collecting and deciphering billions of miles of driving data. And as our data continues to grow by the second, our Analytics teammates grow right alongside it. We give them the opportunity to model and visualize that data to create innovative products, working side-by-side with our diverse product teams. The insights uncovered by the Analytics team help catalyze groundbreaking solutions for our customers and are a driving force in making transportation smarter, safer, and more useful for everyone. The Role:
The Data Scientist will join a team of data scientists and data engineers to help the team derive value from our most tremendous asset – data. The successful candidate will build pipelines, create models and find new signal from our wealth of telematics, insurance, and other third-party data sources. This person will ideate and follow through with analytical approaches that support our team products. To do so, they will fully utilize their data science skills, their coding and engineering expertise, and their unique point-of-view.

Responsibilities:

Your day-to-day work looks like:

  • Creating and deploying advanced algorithm, machine learning models and processing pipelines using a variety of libraries/tools and cutting-edge techniques

  • Exploring new data sources to create novel predictors of driving risk and other insurance metrics

  • Working closely with data engineers and actuaries to refine product offering

  • Establishing and following data science best practices including peer review, code review, documentation, coding standards, and ensuring reproducibility and compliance

  • Analyzing large amount of data sets using distributed computing frameworks

  • Communicating results to key stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner

  • Expanding their data science and engineering skillset through development opportunities and learning innovative tools and techniques

Qualifications:

We are looking for a team member that has the following traits:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of industry experience, or a Master’s/PhD with 2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Scientist. More qualified candidates will be considered for a more senior position.

  • 4 or more years of experience applying data science and analytics techniques to solve business problems.

  • Insurance industry experience is desired but not required.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and Spark/SQL (or equivalent big data tools), with experience in: Large-scale data processing, Production-level engineering for ML solutions and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure)

  • Ability to translate complex product requirements into well-defined analytical problems and deliver actionable solutions.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and data insights to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.

  • Detail-oriented, double checks data/work against expectations, and takes pride in good documentation

  • An innate curiosity and ability to learn new techniques and technologies

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $95,700.00 - 170,925.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
