The Area Scout will cover Panama, evaluate players, report findings, maintain a network, assist in assessments, and manage expenses.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are seeking an Area Scout to cover Panama. In this role, the Area Scout will cover and report on players in Panama and make recommendations on signing players. The Area Scout will also help with additional assignments/coverages as assigned by Immediate Supervisors.
The Area Scout – Mexico must reside in Mexico for consideration. Living in the Panama City/Aguadulce area is preferred but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary Scout for assigned area, including reporting responsibilities and establishing a thorough network (players, trainers/coaches, player representatives).
- Maintain a detailed preference list for players you report on.
- Take video of players and upload them to Red Sox System.
- Evaluate player makeup and build relationships with players and their families.
- Provide regular updates to superiors on players in your territory and cover assigned events.
- Assist in Physical Assessments of players and data collection as needed.
- Develop a working knowledge of select technologies as well as how to apply your results to the evaluation process.
- Submit expenses in a timely manner per the policies set-forth by the Boston Red Sox.
- Be cognizant of International Scouting policies as dictated by MLB and follow rules set forth by MLB and the Boston Red Sox.
- Help coordinate Red Sox tryouts as needed.
- Update player biographical information and evaluations promptly through the scouting process.
- Participate in any professional development exercises as assigned by supervisors.
COMPETENCIES:
- Build network of players, agents, coaches, to gather info in your assigned territory.
- Familiarly with baseball technology and equipment to conduct player evaluations.
- An understanding of the landscape and context of the International Acquisitions domain.
- Able to collect and decipher the information necessary to complete a full scouting process.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a Driver’s License valid in the assigned area.
- Must have regular access to a car in the assigned area.
